I would say yes. The fuel guage is simple a current reader (amp meter) thats read the amount of current going through the pot (potentiometer). The swipe arm in the center of the pot varies with fuel level, changing the resistance the guage sees to ground. On the other hand, that COULD be a +12V line and somehow inside the guage the signal is sent to ground. That's the way jap stuff is, they love to have hot wires all over the dash. But since the schematic is from a jeep, I'm going to stick with it being a ground. To know for sure, you need to know what's happening on that "S" pin inside the guage. hope this helps,

ok.. what happens here is the fuel guage reads a resistance.. thru the sending unit.. that symbol in the sending unit is a variable resistor.. that various with the level of fuel.. and so.. that black and yellow wire should be a ground.. even tho that is not the symbol for ground..

Do you have the rest of the schematic? What book is it out of? From what I know of electrical systems, I would say that it is a ground. The battery voltage flows to the gauge when the key is on. From the guage, it gow back to the sender and to ground. Why the question? Gauge not working?
