?? Samurai and Tracker/sidekick Motor and Trans.

Hey everyone,

I have a 86 Samurai that has evidently blown it's tranny. It still runs but oil is leaking from the rear driveshaft seal and it makes terrible noise in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th gear.

I am fighting the urge to sell it instead of fixing it as I could use the cash. My question is, should I gather the strength to fix it I think it might be best since I'd be doing a trans swap to swap the motor out as well. The 1.3 runs very good but If I keep it I'd like to switch up to a 1.6 8 valve.

Can a Tracker/Kick motor AND trans bolt in easy enough or would that be a huge headache?

Thanks for any help and for any motivation to keep it.

I don't do any offroading yet but I think I'd like it.(Esp. Mudding) The Sam is mainly a Daily driver at this point.

Thanks again

Tom

For the heck of it I tried to post a pic of my Samurai

First off, the Sami trannies are cheap and easy to fix. Plus there are lots of them available for reasonable prices... www.trailtough.com
Since you reside on the right coast ... there are lots of guys that are near you that might be able to help...

Secondly, the 1.6 8v is a simpler engine swap but the 1.6 16v is more powerful outta the box. Here in Cali, we don't have the freedom that youall in the rest of the states do in reference to the smog laws... so perhaps that 8v engine can be modified to match the output of the 16v.... Not sure on that one...:(

Hope that helps..
