Got an 88 Sami, the other night it died on me when I pushed the clutch in as I approched a stop sign. Didn't spit and sputter, just cut out as if I had turned the key off. When I tried to restart it, it just clicked. After about 5 minutes, it fired right up. What should I be looking at?

Check your grounds. I've read of the clutch assembly acting as ground when the proper grounds have failed. It sounds like you might be experiencing the same thing.

Specifically, clean up your distributor ground. They are notorious for failing. Also clean up the ground point from the battery negative cable to the firewall and the battery to block. Then add a block to frame ground.

I 100% agree. Change your negative battery cable too. Worst case, you'll fry your throttle cable and clutch cable since they are acting as ground cables (BAD!).
Change the distributor to firewall ground to a #10 gauge grounding strap. Add another ground from the battery (-) to the firewall too.

Very common problem

Have fun
