I found a 1 3/4" long crack in my engine crossmember this morning. It starts near the motor mount and follows a gradual bend up to the flat part on top of the x-member.

Should I be worried about this now?? Or do you think it will be good for another month or so when I'm back home?

I can fix it by grinding out the crack, or drilling a hole at the end of the crack and welding it back up right??

It will probably be OK for a little while, just keep an eye on it. If it starts spreading much, then get it fixed. Repair it by grinding a V into the crack, drill a hole at the end of the crack and lay a good bead of weld into the V.
