Well, the day I knew was coming but didn't want to think about finally arrived. I closed the deal on a 2wd S-10, and someone is coming on friday to pick up the jeep. The s-10 is...practicle and I need it to get to school and back...but the Jeep was my baby and I'm fricking pissed I can't have both. Hopefully in a few years I'll be able to afford another Jeep, but until then I'm just going to go crazy for lack of a jeep in my garage. Don't get me wrong, its a nice pickup...but 2wd...c'mon. Just a random vent from someone nobody knows. Hopfully see you all out on the trails in a few years.

I shall cry with you .. as it is a sad day. Mind you, I love my S-10 and would hate to give it up. That is why I still have both, even tho I cannot afford to insure both at the same time :)

I know . I had to do the same thing back in 85 . I bought a CJ5 in 1980 ( it was a 77) . Man , I think of that Jeep now and how perfect it was . I didnt know about how rusty it would become one day . It was black and I bought it off of a machinist and he had all these cool things that he built for it . I HATED myself the day that nice young couple came to pick up MY CJ . I`ll tell ya , that thing was a babe magnet . I remember having these 2 big stereo speakers mounted in the back ( house speakers) , LOUD !And getting that thing so badly stuck by myself one time , I had to walk down this mountain at night and leave the Jeep behind . YES I KNOW , dont go wheelin by yourself . Hey...I was young . These are the good memories !
The bad one :
It was my only transportation , so on COLD winter mornings when I went out to jump in and go off to work , I remember pushing all the snow away that was INSIDE the Jeep . When the wind is blowing at 5 AM in the middle of winter and you have to push a bunch of snow off your seat and then warm up your 304 , it aint nice mister. Well ... that was the only bad thing /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif . I ended up getting a new job that involved a LONG drive so it was impractical for me to keep it any longer. It NEVER got out of my system . Oh , ah , er hey I`m back in the present , gee thanks for letting ME tell my little story . Anyone else have a " I HAD to sell my Jeep story" they want to share ? Come on CJDave , MattM38 , some of you guys must have some tales to tell .

PS . I now own AGAIN , an old rusted out 79 that I am busting my a$$ over right now . And YOU WILL get another one , dont fret . Once a Jeep is in your blood brother , its there for good .

WE were out wheeling in Clayton OK. one weekend, and I mouthed off big time. The guys running with us had found out that I was building the scrambler and asked what I would do with the 7. I said that if I could get most of my money back out of it, I would sale it.Well they asked how much, and and I just rattled off a nice round number of 8500.00.They guy's nephew called sight unseen and said he would take it!! I almost cried when he trailered it out of sight. That jeep& I had been through alot, but the scrambler is slowly taking it's place in my heart.

Actually, I did have an 87 XJ four about 6 or seven years. It was a 4 banger, stock as stock can be. I wheeled the hell out of it while I was in school (Northern Maine), and always bit*hed about how useless the motor was. Well, got out of school got a good job, and bought an x-cab GMC. Thought I'd be happy to unload the Cherokee, but you know what? There's days when I really wish i had that rig.

At least throw a Detroit in the rear of the S-10.

I've been sorry to see a few vehicles go, and not sorry on others. We bought the TJ knowing we'd be it's first and only owners. The Scrambler is the same way, I'll be its last owner. You just don't give up your children, not for any amount of money.

My father bought me this Jeep when we were living overseas in Uruguay, South America. I never knew for sure what year and model it was (stupid me) but here are a few things I remember:
1. 4 cyl engine with special cam and lowered cyl head. This thing would peel out in all 3 gears.
2. Warn 8274 winch (all I ever used it for was to pull fallen trees off the road and to tow the Jeep when I ran out of gas.
3. The fender flares were mad out of steel not rubber. The guy did an amazing job. Also, that is not a sticker on the hood it was hand painted.
4. Gas tank was under the front seats. Lowback 2/3 seats, no seats in back.
5. Split windshield, it even opened up towards the front.
6. 3 speed. Somtimes I would forget and put it in reverse instead of 1st gear.
7. Custom made leather top (tan).
8. It did not have 4wd, there was no diff in the front just a straight axle. Did they come this way?

Had a great time with this Jeep and I really miss it. From what I've heard the new owner put in a Mercedes diesel engine in it and it's still running.

Ahhhh, those were the days....
