Howdy I'm an old hand on the Nissan board but now i have a GM question My brother had a 1989 Gmc 2500 2 wheel drive with a seized ac pump now i need to find a soulution to the problem that is less than the 1,200 dollars that

GM wants to replace the whole ac assembly is their an aftermarket pulley that i can find to fix this problem any help for this problem would be greatly appreciated Thanks

I got an aftermarket A/C compressor for about $300 at O'Reilly's or Autozone, I don't remember which. I also got a new evaporator, inlet screen filter and R34 coversion kit.
Total bill was about $500.
Now, that was for my 89 Suburban. Its an SFA, but most of the stuff under the hood should be the same as your truck.

I had to replace my ac compresser a while back i think it was about $200 for it and you can do it yourself. You just need a shop to pull a vaccum on it and put new coolant in it.

I sell both the pulley assembly with bearing installed for like 75 bucks, or the bearing alone for like 20 bucks. ACDelco parts, OEM and they work great. I already did this to my truck... If you know your compressor still can turn over then thats the way to go... however, if for some reason the compressor itself is really seized up, then you need a new compressor. You can get them new or reman through Delco at your local GM parts dealer. You may want to check into it.

if you're not worried about AC, you can run a new belt in a non-AC configuration with an idler pulley. but going krazies way sounds like the ebst bet to me
