Surprise, surprise....I have a few rust spots I'd like to treat before it takes over! The rust spots are mainly surface rust and I'm not too interested in going as far as getting a whole new body for it or "cutting and pasting". What is the best way to attack this?

Don't be surprised that the surface rust has a bigger friend underneath.
you have to get all the cancer before it spreads.
How do you feel about sandblasting to bare metal?

I'm open to any ideas. I just don't want to spend a whole bunch of money because I'm not interested in making this "show" material. I like it the way it is.....minus the rust.

sand off the rust and then use a sealant type primer to keep out moisture, I like dp-40 myself, as long as you get all the rust out it will not happen again right away. if it is thru you have to cut and weld in a new piece.
