When adding accessories that require drilling thru a body panel, what have you found that works in preventing rust from starting at the hole? Note that the accessory may be removed at a later date.

FYI: I am have Bug Deflector that requires drilling on the lip on the underside of the hood. I live on the FL Gulf Coast.

Thanks

You just need to cover the bare metal with someting-primer, sealer, paint-just someting to keep moisture from getting around the edge and working in under the paint.

A really easy way to prevent rust where you drill is to spray silicon on the bolt, washer, hole, etc. This seals the area and thus prevents rust. I read this in one of the off raod magazines. Hope this helps.
