rough cold idle

I recently performed the Terry Howe cleaning of the venturi cluster in the carburetor to fix a slow starting problem. At the same time I noticed the choke was sticking, and fixed that as well. Now, the jeep turns over quickly, however, the idle is tremendously rough until the engine fully warms. In addition, since the carburetor work, the temperature gauge is peaking. I am unsure where to start looking to address these problems.

Check to see if your Thermostatic Air Cleaner is working correctly and the flapper is open to the heat stove pipe from around the exhaust manifold after a cold start up. That helps the engine warm up faster by using hot air from around the exhaust manifold to vaporize the gas when the engine is still cold. Good Luck!! /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif
