Last month JP Mag had an article on getting more heat out of you YJ/Soft top.
It works! It gets colder than cold out here, and I tried it.
Actually, to make it simple. . .
Remove the cowl, wrap the screen in plastic, replace the cowl/screen, disconnect the VENT control arm from the selector linkage (right side of vent - passenger floor board). Walla!!!!! Recycled heat!

Colorado,
Will you have a problem with too much moisture on the interior then, and therefore steaming up the windows?

Okay, I understand the concept, but if you disconnect the vent-is this to let ti swing freely or to just keep it in one position? Also are you supposed to keep it half way open or closed because if you move it all the way in either position aren't you actually cutting off the air flow? With the cowl screen blocked the only other place for air is the open vent but when the vent is open air is blocked from the heater. And the other way too when the vent is closed air comes from the cowl into the heater but wiht it closed it can't get any air. One last thing will this decrease the amount of air moving because the vent inside is smaller than the cowl screen? What will it matter if it's warmer but moving less air? Tell me if I'm on track or way off.
