Re: a wee bit O/T the longest post here?

only 80% that seems low

anyways heres the list of what I want to do to my truck some of this stuff Ive already done

1want bigger tires even though Ive got bigger tires
2want a bigger engine or rebuild my 350 with a few mods vortec heads or edlebrocks mild cam, intake, ram air intake(in thw workings) or just toss a big block tbi motor in it.
Exhuast wich has been redone numorus times but Im always tinkering with right now its got a magna flow muf and a high flow cat, wich will be removed shortly, If put a 454 in it Ill have to go true duals
3I realy want a d60 under the fron with a matching 14ff in the rear, but I dont want leafs id go with coil overs and a 4 link set up, something similar to dodges setup. Id have 456 gears in the pumkins so it coulod easily turn the 35" tires or 34' tires what ever they happen to measure to.
4 a set of bucket seats but i want the center seat instead of the console, dont want to lose the room I have with the bench
5 paint job and new bumpers i want the tjm bumper on the front the one without the grill goard, just the plain bumper.
6 to remove body lift after the sfa under the front and run 35s
7 and all the other stuff my truck needs
Im 4 beers in so if ths is un readabel Im sorruy(sux being a light weigght)

Re: a wee bit O/T the longest post here?

Yeah I know I am posting a few thousand posts behind where I am at but I just gotta respond to RICK98Z by saying this: I am sorry to say this but about 20 years ago my dad had a FORD Courier, and my cousin and his friend each had a 72 chevy, one a 3/4 ton, and the other a half. Well the 1/2 broke down, and the 3/4 was towing it home and broke down, so my dad towed the TWO CHEVIES to one of the guys houses and my dad had a picture of the guy flicking him off as he was taking the pic, I am going to try and find it.

I am from a ch*vy family, but I love my ford.

Also whoever posted about the Pontiac Fiero, I do believe that is a GM vehicle.../wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif

Re: a wee bit O/T the longest post here?

Does free flow exhaust help your engine breath good enough with out headers? Or should I go with headers also? Thanks. Want to let her breath questioning headers if there worth it. Thanks

Re: a wee bit O/T the longest post here?

exhaust is usually the first serious mod done to a vehicle...headers follow right after,. it. I'm lookin for headers as we speak

Re: a wee bit O/T the longest post here?

I owned three ford trucks.....all bought new....all broke down within the first year or two more than once. Since switching to chevys all I have had is minor problems. Never been left on the side of the road in one yet.
I work for the 3rd largest Sheriff Dept in the country (Harris County which is in Houston). We always used to use Caprices until they stopped making them then switched to fords. We have several of our last chevys totally rebuilt and are buying impalas because the fords cost to much to upkeep. Our chevy patrol cars used to get 150-200 thousand miles. We are lucky to get a hundred thousand out of the fords. At 80 thousand the fords will use 1-2 quarts of oil every 2-3 days. Also the fords with v-8s are slower than the new impalas with v-6s.
I love chevy

Re: a wee bit O/T the longest post here?

Same here with my dad. Never had anything but a GM product in the driveway. So natrually that's what i like. But also because they look the best out of all the trucks, even though I like the looks of the 80's style a little better than my '99. CHEVY'S ROCK, that's all there is to it!!!

Re: a wee bit O/T the longest post here?

Trucks that big arnt even practical. You ever see one down town, they drive like semis. And way to big for most trails. Even Chevys that big only look good but dont function well.
This is only my personal opinion!

Re: a wee bit O/T the longest post here?

i have a co-worker here who is a phord fan. unfortunately for him, and he even admits it. i find that odd. anyways, he's driving (trying to atleast) a '92 ford f-150 regular cab short bed. he's really got it nice and clean, still stock in every which way and does his best to baby it. he gets 2 thumbs up for great maintenance. but it's a phord and no matter how nice he treats it he has problems with it. during the summer he has to be careful not to use the a/c so much since it overheats too quick. he says no one knows why. so he'll stick around work for awhile (during summer) to pass the time so as not to be in the sun and in gridlock traffic. stop n go traffic doesn't agree with the ol phord. earlier this year he called me to see if i can tow him back to work. always a pleaseure. apparently a small drive out to lunch was asking too much of it and decided not to pump itself some oil thru it's veins. looking under the hood of it is weird. distributor is in the front. nice location. too bad it doesn't see it's share of work like it should. at the time i towed him back with my '83 silverado 2wd. my a/c works fine, btw. i just love reminding him of that time. over and over. but he's dedicated to it and he says he's gonna keep it. the only reason i can think of him wanting to do that is cuz it's paid off.

Re: a wee bit O/T the longest post here?

Definatly the strengh and dependibility! Like you guys said, no matter what, it will always get you home! Take for example when I decided to push over a tree with my truck. It hada big grzzley push bar, so I thought I wouldnt have to worry about anything. I tired to push it, but all I did was spin (this tree was fairly big). So I took a little run at it and got it to about a 45 degree angle, then backed up and took another run at it, boom, right up on top. The stump of the tree was sitting right on the pan of my tranny. Truck was stuck in drive, couldnt get it into reverse, the tree pushed my pan all up into the gears and stuff. So me and my buddy walked back to town about 10 miles away. Got a guy to come out and pull my truck off the stump. Didnt take much, I could have gotten off if I had reverse. After my truck was pulled off it made it home which was about 10 miles away. I dropped the pan, banged it back out, put a new gasket on, put the pan back on, and added some fluid. Good as freakin new!!! I would like to see that with a dodge or a ford! As for the push bar, it was totally farked, as was my bumper! But thats it, nothing wrong with my grill or anything else.

Also one time I was ripping down the street and slammed into the side of another guys truck. He needed a whole new box side. What did I need? A new signal light lense!

CHEVY 4 LIFE!

Re: a wee bit O/T the longest post here?

WTF are you doing driving into trees that are "pretty big", man I have to say I don't think any other brand driver would brag about that. Really I think a freakin datsun could get the pan hammered and then just beat it out and be fine. Nothing big about that but seriously, what made you wanna ram the front of your truck into a tree? I really wanna know.

Re: a wee bit O/T the longest post here?

"Hey Cooter, you in the mood to go see who's truck will run over the biggest tree?" yeah, that's it... ?

anyway, yes, i agree that a truck with ~15" lift and 44's would be a friggin bitch to drive around town and actually kinda dangerous since you can't see cars on your right side by the door (i have trouble with just 6" lift and 35's!). But if you live out in the country like i do, it ain't no thing. Up here at school though, I'd hate to have to drive around a hawse like that... there'd be way too many lil cars running around trying to drive under it. A truck that big needs those school bus mirrors with 3 different pieces to have full view. But it's still BADARSE in my book.

Here's a new one with 3" body lift and 44's (no susp lift):

Try that on your chevy!

anybody can slap 44's on thier ride. nothing a sawzall can't take care of. what counts is turning all that rubber and keeping them to turn at your will.
