Rack and Pinion replace ?\'s
My fiance has an 02 2wd Explorer that apparently has a leaky rack and pinion. I haven't had the time to look at it, but the shop wants $500 or so to replace it. They told her that they would have to replace a computer that goes with it. This guy has been okay to her in the past, but this sounds a bit fishy. I've priced the assembly for around $200.
So, couple questions- If it is bad, can I just swap out the assembly, or is there really a computer that has to go along?
I'm not very familiar with R&P, so how involved is the job?
