What bell housing bolt pattern does the 6.9/7.3 diesel have? big block or it's own? I can't remember

i have been told its big block by some guys, and told its a special one by others, and havent had the time to try it on my own yet to know which is true

Thanks. I've got 12 hours to figure out whether or not I'm going to waste my money for a trans that might not bolt up to my 460.

gear ratios are different, in the manual trans, they are geared higher,
the C6 auto and the e4od do shift way different than the gas version

The last one I saw had a special adapter plate that adapted a BB trans to the engine. It was in a F450 with the ZF. Ford used a standard BB tranny mated with the special plate to the engine.

I know about the 1st & 2nd gears being different. I can live with that. I'm worried about the bell housing bolt pattern. If it's a standard big block bolt pattern, then it'll bolt right up to my 460

If not, then it's useless to me

I don't want to buy the truck and then get stuck with it.
