I tried searching but couldn't find the answer. I know when you swap in Wagoneer or Scout axles you have to outboard teh front springs, but do you with a widetrack D30 from a CJ?

The Jeep CJ5/7 wide track dana 30 front axle does not require outboarding the Jeepster springs to be installed into a Jeepster. There are some minor modifications like brake lines, and steering linkages when using a Jeep CJ5/7 front Dana 30 wide track in a Jeepster. Many CJ5/7 owners with the Dana 30 wide track front end upgrade the locking hubs from the 5 bolt pattern to the 6 bolt pattern. The Jeep CJ5/7 Dana 30 wide track front end is a good Jeepester upgrade, even with the 5 bolt pattern locking hubs.

When you do the upgrade from the five bolt pattern to the six bolt pattern, is that on the locking hub itself of the number of wheel studs? Also, what hardware do you need to do that upgrade?

Does anyone know if the hubs in that kit are the same as the disc break hubs on earlier D30's?

The factory disc brake hubs used on Jeep CJ5/7 from 1976 - 1986 are different than the Warn hubs in the link to Tellico 4X4. I have a 1980 CJ5, and the locking hubs are bolted to the hubs. The Warn hubs use a large snap ring to hold the locking hubs. The Warn hubs are designed to use the Jeep factory disc brake rotors.

If the snow ever stops (12" today) the cj7 front axle switch is next on my list. It is under the snow but my notes say I can't use the cj springs and have to use the Jeepster springs, is that right? What about clearance for tires? Would it make sense to also switch in the rear axel? Jumping the gun here but appreciate any info.

Does that mean that you cannot use the disc brake hubs or just that Warn uses a different setup? Sorry I keep beating this dead horse.

Caver, good point I forgot about the other two. Sorry but it has been a long winter. I'm talking about the 71 for the cj x's. I'm looking for the front disc advantage. It is closer to running on the road. Everything but some body work and brakes is done.
Bought a used RV with a Cummins 6bt 5.9 and have been spending learning time on the Turbo Diesel Registry and now need to get my brain back to the Jeepster side. (I wonder if a bullnose would take a Cummins 4bt)
The possibility of getting either of the Bullnoses moving is slipping in to the not likly. The 72 starts and runs well and has only 30,000 miles but the body was shot ten years ago and may wind up as a freeby(trade for beer) to someone who could use it and the 73 at some point. Haven't decided. Thanks for the reply.
