Purchasing Honda,Yamaha,Polaris,Kawasaki

I think you might be a bit cramped on these, I have never driven a 250 utility quad, I have plowed snow
with a 400 utility, I can't say a 250 would have enough power. You would probably be pushing the engine
when plowing snow, thus making its life shorter? For utility & reliability you can never beat a honda though!!!!

i own a '00 kawasaki lakota 300, its pretty quick and has good power
i got mine for $4100, in 4 WHEEL ATV ACTION it was clocked at 60-65

First thing, dont buy a two stroke! Cant plow when you try to keep it in the pipe all the time. You also might consider a larger displacement, like a 350-400cc. The Honda Rancher would be a good choice. Cant beat Honda reliability.

bobobo never get any thing but a honda. honda will always be the best. i have a 350 honda. i have put mine though heck. and it still is runing fine. so i would get around a 350 like the rancher wouuld be the best choice.

I'm 6'4" tall and have ridden all of those quads. None of them will do what you want to do. The Polaris Trailblazer is roomy enough but does not have the power, and the rest are tiny machines and way underpowered. I'd suggest looking for a used 4 wheeler in the classifieds for a Yamaha Kodiak, Big Bear, or Honda TRX 300 forman 4x4. The honda 300 is the toughest son of a bitch ever built. They can take any and all abuse you can give them. And you could pick up any of these from a 95 and up for around $4000 in excellent cond. As far as the lakota goes they are a decent machine for trail riding, but 60-65 is a stretch, i rode a 99' and it couldn't pass my warrior when my warrior was in 4th gear on a long fire road.

I believe the Polaris has the same body and chasis as the explorer, so the size of it probaby won't make much of a difference. We own a '96 explorer 300 and it has done anything we need it to do. We live on a ranch, so it gets used everyday. We pull a lot with it (sprayer, feed for cows, fencing supplies etc.) The only problem we have ever had with it was a chain getting stretched. That's the only thing I have against it because the chains take a lot of maintenence. I really like the two strokes. They have way more power and are way quicker.

I totally agree with "yamaha 1" also I have a recon in my family (wifes)honda's are very durable, but if your going to plow do yourself a favor and get 4wd or you will be disappointed. good luck!

The Honda 300 referred to above is a Honda 300 FourTrax, not a Foreman. The 400 and 450's are Foremans. The TRX300 is no longer being made. The Rancher 350 has replaced it and comes with standard transmission you shift with your foot ot the ES that is an electronic shift by way of a switch on the handlebars. Honda is supposed to release its Rubicon in May with a 500cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled engine and fully-automatic liquid drive tranny that circulates the same oil through the engine and transmission. This bike will have compression braking to slow you down while descending hills. It will have a hi and lo range and can be run in the fully automatic mode, or in the ES mode as described above. It, like the Rancher (and soon the Foreman) will have the new AP differential that sends power to the front wheel with the most traction. It is a clutchless diff that uses gears.
