Pros & Cons of Tahoe\'s (newer \'00-\'02)

I'm in the market for an SUV right now... I love the Tahoe's but have always been a Ford girl (currently drive a 98 GT)... Can anyone give me good points on comparisons w/ the Tahoe and the Expy? I'm not tryin to get a bash goin on for either Ford or Chevy, just good, strong points... I'm lookin for something w/ room, I will be putting a 6 or 8" lift on it, some towing of horses, cars, and quads... Thanks!

If you plan to run that big of a lift on a Chevy, you better plan to do a sfa swap. The IFS will just hold up to that big of a lift, and most likely 37" tires.Expos are good suvs, but they are big, not fuel efficient, and in my mind they lack power. Can you even see a expo with a 6" lift? I cant. In my mind, i would get a tahoe. You will be better off. Just my .02 cents worth

Also on the 2003 Expedition, they use a independent Rear Suspension, which I don't you will be seeing a lift anytime soon, and when they are loaded down in the rear the tires camber goes insane like this / / \\ get it? I saw a Mistubishi SUV (montre?) which IRS and loaded with stuff and it was all whacked like that, meaning your tires I think will wear bad. Drive train: The chevy tahoe is your best bet... And for that SFA swap, it will cost alot and be a pain in the arse... So I would stick with a 3" Lift with some 33's or so, unless you really wanna go and get crazy.
Hey guys notice she said shes a girl? ((hopes a 15-22 chick)

Thanks guys... I already plan on swapping out the IFS when the lift goes on the truck... I've leaned more towards the Tahoe, however the lifted Expys look sweet as well...There are a lot in Cali and the owners don't have complaints

And yes I'm a chick (21 in a month for the guy who was hoping LOL)... Love all the toys... fast cars, big trucks, boats, quads... aawwww yea!!!

just don't be so dependent on the tranny, especially since you plan on hauling. a ladyfriend i know owns a 01 hoe 2wd and has already taken it to the dealer for tranny problems. not sure on the specifics but she don't even haul a$$ much less horses.
why not hold out for a 3/4 ton burban?

72Dreamer ~ I've looked at the Burbs, have a few friends w/ em... I like the length of the Tahoes better for now... maybe I'll upgrade later on when a family come into picture

not to knock ford or anything, but a guy that i work with has an expedition (lease) and he is very good with cars. and he turned it in less than a month ago after they put a new motor in it. buy the way cuddos on the fast cars, big trucks, boats and so on and so on. If I was single and in your area I'd be lookin ya up.jk. Mygirlfreind grips as soon as I take a step tward the garage. The only thing I would look for in the tahoe would check too see if it knocks or ticks on startup (other than injecter noise)

I would say go for the Tahoe...but then again, I may be a little biased.

This one will have some more daylight under it when our littlist one gets old enough/tall enough to climb in on her own.

By the way, can anyone use some computer magic, and do a little doctoring to give it a lift now?
