Afternoon, a friend of mine has bought a 76? I think dodge power waggon and he's got some work to do. Is a 360ci engine common? The rear axle, is that a D44? It's not a floater rear so I think it is a 44. Are there axle breathers? The x-fer case, are they np205 cases? Has anyone done an external transmission filter modification (water, dirt, mud

). Anything I should look out for or change/replace/mod immideatly?

also, do you know where the engine casting numbers would be? I need to id an engine for the rear seal (stock engine is not the correct one that we need).

If it is a 1976 Power Wagon, then these motors apply:
318, 360, 400, 440. Small Blocks have Dist in rear, BB have it in front.
Front Diff. should be Dana44 look on webbing for ID.
Rear Diffs. that were available are as follows: 8 3/8 D100, 8 3/4 D100 & W100, 9 1/4 RC & TD, Dana 60, Dana 60HD full floating D200 & W200.
Tranny (if Automatic) should be either a A-345 (74-76), or a A-727 (67-88) Identification pad is on the right side of the tranny.
Transfer case could be a NP-205 (1974-1976) or NP-203 (1977-1979).

Much appriciated. I'm planning on twin sticking the 203 x-fer case

. The transmission has been removed and I've verified the engine is a 360 SB. Thanks for the locations on the transmission, I'll have to check out the rear and front axles to id them. There is a "9" stamped on the lower pinion webbing on the rear, Corp 9"?

Erm, No Corp stuff in Dodges, that I am aware of... That's a CheBBy thing..
The "9" may be part of the 9&1/4 Stamping.
Get yourself a $13.00 Chilton's Manual on "Dodge/Plymouth Full Size Trucks, 1967-88 Repair Manual" part #8662. You should be able to get one at your local parts house. Really good Info in it and pics of the various things you need to see, to identify with, Torque Spec Charts, etc.
