I am so excited that the conversion is under way. I chopped off the old ross steering column and unbolted the bell crank and ross steering box. I have decided to go to the power steering. My question has to do with the tie rods. I have availalbe to use. 1 wrangler long tie rod, a CJ long tie rod and my old short and long tie rods. What we are thinking about doing is cutting the CJ tie rod shorter and use that for the long one, because we can make it fit, The problem we have is getting a rod to the box pitman are and to the long tie rod. From what i have seen is that some tie rods have what it seems to be a hole drilled in it towards the end and the tie rod end bolts there. Can we safely reproduce that by drilling a hole, then bolting the small rod to it?? Has anyone done this. Or should we make a bracket where the tie rods connects to the knuckle?? Is this safe? I run 33 inch tires, but the possiblility of 35 inch tires are up in the air.
Thank you for any help
