I may have to change my username.
I actually washed the Commando and it looks pretty good.
Maybe I will have to be prettyjeepinthebackyard.
Oh, well. A little mud and a few new rock scrapes and it will be fine.

And a few pics of the new H4 Headlight conversion.
Works great, light output is amazing compared to old sealed beams. Just have to set up relays for them 'cause they are heating up my switch.

off

This is on during the day, didn't get back out at night to snap a pic yet.

Ugly,

Pls let me know the details/specifics of how you set up your headlight relays... I'd like to do the same thing but don't know spit about relays and such.

And yes, you're right you got a right purty Commando there. Now go out and get it 'ugly' again before you get to liking it clean!

I will be setting them up so that the swicth sends a small amount of power to flip the relay and the relay sends the full power from the battery to the lights. I will run two relays, one for high and one for low.
Here is a simple "print and keep" relay wiring layout.

So basically, its
pin 86 power from switch
pin 30 power from battery
pin 87 power to headlights
pin 85 ground for relay.

Relays can also be used to send ground to an object that already has power.
Just substitute ground for power.

Oh yeah, change that username to "uglyjeepoffroad...brokendown&parkedinbackyardforthepast9months"

Washed it??

How about addressing the issues *keeping it in the yard* first? (did I mention that URE opens in 2 weeks? and that we'll all talk about you NOT being there?)

Come on man, pack your bag, through it in the KIA/honda/toyota/whatever the wife drives and come on down to URE. Even if we can't find you a seat, it'll be easy enough to walk, its' agonna be a traffic jam anyway

Forgot to mention the new radiator and new motor mounts. I just need to adress the issues in the fron diff and it will be ready to wheel again,

But. I am on call that weekend and don't know if I can get anyone to cover. I am still trying.

Not as of now...
(3 stinkin relatives have places on Badin... all a resounding "maybe, we'll think about it"
)

There should be plenty of seats...Ricky's got the "Campfire Girls" coming (but they may want to fight over who gets to wear the skirt
), Aarons possibly bringing GF (no, it's *NOT* Pat!), Brents coming (I think his bro Lance also?), John "whttrsh" D., and I'm empty except for maybe my brother (but he's also bringing his rig & family though). Haven't heard from any of the AJC crowd (Aaron/RQ) on whether they're planning to come...

The Lovely Jeep Wife scored a (hayburner) ride in the Steeplechase that Saturday (means I get to sit in the sponsor tent and eat and drink...FREE!!!)...I'm planning on taking Thursday off and doing a day ride...I'll probably avoid weekends down there till mid May.

Ya gotta love those old Commandos. Even the ones that look more like a Bronco than a Jeep

BTW Would it offend you if I ask Dirt Dog to make me a decal like your WORN signature?

Hey Ugly, tighten up that top! If you ever get it back on the road the wind noise is going to kill you. PS It looks good stuck in the grassy back yard!! Aaron

Aaron, don't make me fire up the Expedition and cover you and your Jeepster with mud again.

And radikal and Caver, I didn't steal it from anyone. But you're welcome to do one. I have the sticker on the hood of my Commando. I wish it had been made bigger, but it is fun to see the double takes when people read it. Half of them don't even notice that it doesn't say WARN.

Damn Dave, you're gettin' mean in your old age. Y'all should give ***** Joe a call...I think he got his XJ repaired and ready for battle. I'd come but...well you know. Kinda long tow and my Jeep will probably be broken after Elusive and I head out to the mountains tomorrow.
