Hello, I never shipped parts out before. I went to the US post office and they gave me a price of $11.00. And I also went to a privately owned mailing store and it was $44.00 for the same item. I am wondering. I am going to go to UPS counter and ask what is the price for shipping. Is UPS more expensive than the US post office? Thank you for your reply

I think you're going to pay a little more at UPS than USPS but it should be close. The reason why you pay much more at those private mail places is cause they have to make their profit too.

It depends on the part. I've been shipping parts lately via US Postal Service Priority mail. It 2-3 days in the states, and seems to consistenly beat UPS prices with lower weigth items... (under 15lbs).

If you use UPS, photograph everytyhing in and out of the box, and insure it for $200 over its value...

trust me on this one!

Ozarkjeep is right, insure for more than what the product is worht. The first $100 are insured for free (UPS) and then it cost $0.75 per $100 extra. $200 extra insurance is only $1.50. It's well worth spending and extra $1.50.

I will add one more thing to the UPS claims thing. If it can be fixed or repaired for under $100...UPS will basically just cut you a check with no inspection of the part...if its over $100 damage...they need to inspect it before any claims.

USPS is also dependent on location. I shipped a 35 lb package through USPS for $6 because it was within NY. I have had some bad experiences with UPS, but over 15lbs its hard to beat their prices.

I work in a company that ships with UPS, RPS and Fed Ex every day. Fed Ex turns out to be approximately $1 to $2 cheaper on smaller items than UPS is.
