what kind of V8? is it a good conversion or a cheese covered one?

how is the body ? the interior? have you driven it at hghway speeds? does it hunt?

low range good? rust? top? electrics? hack and slash job?

take the asking price, multiply that by 14.3 that answer is 1/3 of the variables that would dictate the vehicles price.

It is really worth no value, because the stock 4 cly was replace with a v8. The drivetrain cannot handle a v8 plus all the modification that could hurt the frame.

The question is how much money do you feel like parting with to change ownership to your hands.

If it was completely stock in O.K. shape $1500
perfect mint shape $2500
O.k with a v8 shape $800

Re: PLEASE! 1961 CJ5 - what\'s it worth??

I sold my '61 for $3750! It had a rough but relatively rust free body, rebuilt 283 V8, original but rebuilt T-98, rebuilt model 18 t-case with a rebuilt Warn OD, 4.27 gears in the stock Dana25 front and full-floater/detroit locked original Dana44, YJ power steering, XJ tilt column, YJ stereo, CB, rollcage, Hummer seats, 11" drums all around, 2.5" Rancho spings, KYB shocks, longer shackles,31-10.50s on stock late CJ 15x7s, and a towbar. I hated to sell it, but the wife forced the sale when I bought the CJ8 (no room for gear with her and the kid in it!).
Any Jeep that runs is worth $1500 in So.Cal, One with a good body/frame not running, at least $1000! One with both, $2500. It all depends on the condition. The original T-90 is usable with a small/stock V8 if you don't abuse it. Be sure to check for broken or rusted body mounts, frame rails, crossmembers, floorboards, etc. It should have 5.38 gears if it still has the original axles. (Model 25 front with closed knuckles, 44 rear with 2 piece axles like a model 20). A small early CJ will go places that a wider later model will have trouble fitting into.
Hope this helps, good luck!
