no, not a fsj, but i will be going to the DR, and it won't be with the toad II. i was going to wait till i got further along but what the hell.
1 week ago i picked up a 92' xj limited for $50 and drove it home.
since then it has gone on a diet, no glass no doors, put on a 3" lift, mounted the old toad buckshots, installed a rear ford 8.8 disc break (welded) and tj axles and a locker up front.
i have yet to make bumpers, mount the winch and have exaust put on. so far i have $600 in this thing and i estimate i'll have $700 when i'm done. take that project no bucks.

Man, I need to get to where I can get stuff done that cheap. Looks like that will tide you over fine until the new incarnation of the Toad rears its UGLY head.

Drayson,
Git some conveyer belt to valance that motor! Where did your hair go???????
Toad, an XJ? I see you have made some real changes since becoming such a family man, Jeep Cherokee, Silverado banner in your garage, concrete driveway... /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/burnout.gif roll on big boy!
I think I have a Landy and an 1 ton Jeep tagging along on the DR.
No mods, only repairs and maintenance to the Jeepster. Gonna wait till after to install the frt44 and rear HP 9", screw the Scout axles!

just to set the record straight, that was NOT my garage, and i broke out in a rash just being close to that poster.
really a commando is the predecessor to the xj, so i haven't veered to far off course.

Man - running Jeeps for $50 - that's definitely the price range to be in...
Looks like both y'all have some good stuff going on there...I'll be stoked to have mine just be street legal.

Looks like the CJ clip camp gains another member...

Yeah, it was the shape of the gas tank that threw me. Cool rig.

There seems to be some misunderstanding as to why my Jeepster is called Project No Bucks - it's not because everything on it is done cheaply - it's because I have no bucks to spend on it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

That XJ is a nice score though. What's it called? Cherotoad? Toadakee? X-Toad? And somehow, I doubt that anything you build should have the word "Limited" attached to it.

I suppose you can guess that I TOTALLY agree with Toads view on the XJ's geneology.

(BTW Toad - I would have expected that you would not have given up on the commandtoad unless you lept from it as it went crashing end over end down the mountain side in a huge fireball ! Sounded to me like it just needed a new axle and transfer case. And lord knows you "might" have a line on one of those.)

But I do like the XJ project.
