Two drink holders in the fron out of 1/4 inch cold rolled rod, and one removable one in the back. It is also padded with a piano hinge in the back and a loop in the front for a paddle lock. The arm rest is worth it alone

Yep, very similiar to mine. I tacked the original "hinge" on back in place, but may change it to a piano hinge like you did. I also removed the stiffeners from the sides to give it a little more room around the seat belts. I like the paaded top, but I found the flat metal suface makes good place to put maps and directions held in place with some flat fridge magnets. Still working on some type of cup holder.
A couple notes. The reason I replaced the rear hinge rather than doing what the writeup shows is if i let the lid fall back hard, it would twist the wires a little that hold the lid on. Once twisted, I had a hard time to get the lid to shut easily. (I had to pull the lid forward to get it to fall down into place)
Also, this it a strong box and all but, it would only take some wire cutters to break into it. All you would have to do is cut the little rod/wire thingie that holds the latch on.
Yep,
I know what you mean about the wire. I put a limiting strap on the inside of mine to keep it from opening all the way back and tweaking it and you can't lift the lid off from behind. I also put a small section of the stiffener that I removed over the wire to reinforce it (kind of hard to imagine with out a pic). Still think I'm going to change it to a hinge though.
Also, may make a modified hinge for the front to replace the stock latch.
