I've got a '98 Chevy Suburban 2500, 4X4 with a 6.5TD. I've heard a rumor that the military 6.5TD has a different header. Can anyone verify? I've been told that a high performance header on the 6.5TD (if you can find one), or on any diesel with a turbo for that matter, is useless. Apparently, since diesels operate in a much lower RPM range than a gasser, any increase in performance would be offset by backpressure developed after the turbo.

If a military header does exist, what was the purpose for its design and can they be sourced?
