My friend gave his Hardtop the "Krylon Touch" and now his paint is turning to dust. What kind of paint should he have used to keep this from happening again? We will prep the top as necessary so the current paint shouldn't be an issue.

Thanks,

I'VE BEEN WANTING TO PAINT MY TOP AS WELL. WHEN YOU SAY TURNING TO DUST IS IT FLAKING OFF? WHAT TYPE OF PREP DID YOU PLAN ON DOING (SANDING, CLEANING, ETC.)?

THANKS

When I painted my hardtop, I painted it the same color as my jeep using a base coat clear coat paint from NAPA. It went on easy with normal prep and I never had any problems with the paint coming off. Most of the time a paint job is only as good as the preparation underneath. Steve

This past summer I used Durabak on my tub. I had some left over and a buddy used it to do the hardtop on his Blazer and it came out great. I plan on doing my top next spring with the Durabak. The only consideration is that the top may be difficult to clean if that is a concern for you.
