Thanks for coming over to the new post for the Outdoor America organization. Right now we have a name and a website being formed. We would like you to continue to express your ideas on this post. Lets keep this idea going. Thanks for the interest. We have already talked about alot of thing, but we have more to discuss. Mark, Peter, and Dave please continue the previous discussions on this post. If you would like more info you can ask (but we might not know yet) or you can wait for the web site to be started up. This might seem like an incoveniance, but it will make it easier to keep track of ideas. Thankyou and lets keep the ideas flowing.

/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif I think it would be better to have yet another organization that the Democrats have to fend off. This one can be more directly pointed at the forest closure issue, and the ads can be real hit pieces that come right out and say "The vice-pervert(use his name) takes Chinese generals to the American Wilderness, but YOU cannot go there!" Stuff like that./wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif ALSO....the name needs to be: "AMERICA OUTDOORS".....I think that gives the picnic table image to suburbia dwellers, and isn't confused with hunting and fishing magazines. America Outdoors is about US...the citizens of this country...keeping our outdoors available to US. You remember the old days don't you? When the forest and all the game belonged to the Duke....and if you went in there and took game, well.... Guess what folks....IT'S BAAAAAAACK! Do you think for ONE MINUTE that some visiting Chi-Comm General would be excluded if he wanted to bag an elk? After all, the check they wrote to the dirtbag DID clear the bank. Our asses have been sold to the chinese by the dirtbag. Ours AND our children's. /wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif

One of the many uses my XJ is good for is taking my son's Boy Scout Troop camping. There are a lot of guys who are BSA adult leaders like myself on this BBS. We obviously cannot speak for the national organization but we are, in the truest sense of the word, enviromentalists. I think this is true of off road people as well. I support what this thread is doing and I will give it support.

Best Regards,

Just a quick little idea for the logo... I know everyone has been thinking of putting trees and 4x4's and all kinds of other stuff in the logo, but I think that may just complicate the logo too much. I tried to come up with a logo with trees in it, but it kept looking like and Arbor Day Foundation Logo /wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif Anyways, I'll keep tossing around ideas... If you see any that you like, I can refine it more...

You will notice I made a new post directing folks to the new thread, just in case someone missed Tim's post on the other threads.
Boy, those other threads were getting long and confusing because of there not being one central post.

Just an idea for the web site. It should have links to e-mail addresses for our elected representitives. This makes it easier to contact them. The reason most people dont contact their officials is they cant find or don't know where to look for add. or phone #'s. We would get the word out better this way. P.S. Is it "Outdoor America" or "America Outdoors"? Lets settle this question so we all know. Thanks!

I like CJDave's idea on the name. We want this to be something that everyone can get behind. As to the logo, I like the green one too. Can I assume that the "Nothing to Plunder" idea is gone? That brought up the completely wrong mental image of what we're looking for. Much too easy a target for the GAG's.
Also, when did the Prez sign away Utah (Grand Staircase)? I like that idea for a date. It seems that we're moving away from this initial idea with the thread. If someone just dropped in this thread they wouldn't know what was going on.

before we get too tied up in making a logo and all that fun stuff, lets draw up a list of potential allies. The suggestion for boys scouts is a phenominal idea, I used to be one! Getting Jeep in on this might not be too shabby an idea either. I've talked to offroad.com, as well as the blue ribbon coalition and CJdave talked to treadlightly...and others I can't recollect at the moment. oh yeah, I talked to WARN as well, but they have yet to reply. Some of our biggest alies could be the companies that supply outdoor enthusiasts. After all, how many products can you sell for vehicles that can't be used? Getting the web page up is very important because it will "put us on the map" as it were. Lets not lose sight of our purpose in face of all the little details. I like Outdoor America best for the title, and a good simple logo will do us hte most benefit. Maybe an american flag flying from the top of a tree in between the words Outdoor and America? Just my .02

I like CJDave’s suggestion of “America Outdoors”. Outdoor America is too associated with hunting (i.e. Outdoor Life and other mags.). I also like the green lettering, very woodsy color. It would look great on a logo. “America Outdoors” can also be construed as a statement in itself, like “Just do it”.

/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif We could also use: "Americans Outdoors"/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif Or....Outdoors For Americans. /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gifor Americans for Outdoors /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif or USA Outdoors /wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gifor Moonguys Kick Democrat Butt/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif Just kidding......if ONLY!/wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif

I agree that this is getting too far removed from the initial idea & looks to be another Blue Ribbon Coalition in the making. No offense to that group, but it's a little too diverse to be focused (IMO). Keep in mind that many hunting & fishing organizations actually WANT more wilderness. Ditto for equestrian groups. I think maintaining 4x4 access should be the number one goal here, while alliances with additional user groups can be secondary. Keep in mind that horses can co-exist with nature in places Jeeps can't, and Jeeps can co-exist with nature in places that grazing leases can't, and on & on. This new group should support multiple-use, but focus mainly on 4x4's or at least ORV's. Just my $.02.

P.S. Still lookin' for that Grand Staircase date - anyone know it?

I have been following all the posts for the last couple of days and I feel that I have to finally bring in my opinion...I have to agree with TEX that although it would be nice to incorporate all outdoor enthusiasts, they have their own things going and we should stay concentrated and work on only the 4x4 part of it. Now this can include dirtbikes, ATVs and all that fun stuff but we have to draw a line somewhere. Just my $.02
