I was out riding with my dad Saturday afternoon. I was on my '85 ATC 250R and he was on his '85 QuadSport 230. We were on the road and the last thing I remember was coming up to a corner that had loose gravel on it (I was behind Dad and he wipped it sideways and drifted through it) but i guess i didn't make it and ate a barbedwire fence. Next thing I know i was laying in a hospital bed. I was in not quite 24 hours and i'm home now but i just want to remind you all that three wheelers were outlawed for a reason and are dangerous. Don't get me wrong though... I love my "R" and as soon as i can i'm gonna be out ridin' it.

don't get me wrong... I love three-wheelers. I'm just saying that i now realize how dangerous they are. I agree though, it is a personal choice, not the governments. If there was a vote on continuing production of ATC's i would support it 100%

that crash could have happened on anything though....it isnt the 3 wheeler...it was the situation and either under or over compensating....

I just think that the manufacturers took it in the shorts and it pisses me off...cuz they are only as dangerous as the rider on it!!!!!!!
damn...kinda like guns....guns dont kill people .....get the connection :)

sorry just ranting as usual....glad yall are OK....becareful...got bad memories of barbed wire and a drunk man on a trail....

How fast were you going when you crashed? Did you know the loose gravel was coming up? Have you been down that trail befor?
Could be many reasons for your crash, not just that you were on a three wheeler. They can be dangerous in the hands of some people, then again so can cars (they still don't ban those things though).
Glad that you are OK, It could have happened to any one of us. Also Hope you get back to riding soon.

I'm not tryin to say it happened because i was on a three-wheeler. I just wanted to tell everybody about my little ride. Also, I went and looked where it happened last night and came to the conclusion that it wasn't the corner that got me... (the marks in the ditch where it tore up the grass were about 10 feet after the corner straightened out)it seems as though i had one tire in loose gravel on the side of the road and one on the road itself and i guess i grabbed a gear and let it eat and it pulled me sideways right into the ditch and the fence.

Ouch, sounds like the road got you. Like I said anybody who is on this board could have had it happen to them.
As an example, right befor i sold my quad i was riding it in a local sand pit with some people, i finally got it running good in the sand (it started out as a dog, first time on that bike in the sand) cut around a blind corner, just a little wide, and saw a wash-out 1.5 foot wide and over a foot deep at the last second. I hit the brakes but my front end dove into the wash-out with almost enough force to throw me over the bars. I was ok but shook up. This is why i was asking those questions. I rode in that pit many times, including a week befor. If i was slower or more carefull i could have avoided it all together.
