In case you missed it The President just called for congress
to eliminate double taxation on stock dividends. In other words you wont have to pay taxes on the profits from you retirement fund or personal stock portfolio. (Average american sees 40 cents from each dollar right now!) He also increased the tax allowance for a child from 650 to over one thousand. Go George! Big man is doing something that should help the stock market.

Andy,

The 49ers proved the a good offense will win. You don't always win by gitting votes with welfare checks like the democrats try to.

Eventually the poor and uneducated wise up.

They tell you that millionaire gets $26,000 back but they dont tell you that he pays $250,000 or more taxes to start with on the million.

If the politicians spent as much time doing there job [witch we pay them for] as they do trying to make themselfs and their party look good we would have a lot less proublems in our country. Republicans and Democrats included.

Although more people own stocks than ever before, the majority of typical Americans don't own stocks outside of their retirement plans (IRA's 401k's etc.). That means they are already sheltered from taxes on dividends. Only those people with enough disposable income to buy stocks outside of their retirement plans will benefit from this tax break.

On the other hand, the increased child tax credit will benefit many low to middle income people.

We'll see if the economic stimulus provided by these tax breaks will produce enough growth to offset the loss of tax revenue.

I don't want to get into a philosophical debate on politics and taxation, but if the owner of a business has more money available to invest in the business, then his workers benefit as well. So, it does benefit the little guys too. Plus, there are more tax breaks in this plan than just those two.

Oops, changed my mind on answering.

I, own no stocks, but I'm very happy to see that one of the methods of double taxation is going out the window, because, no matter who it is being taxed (or not taxed), I'm always happy to see people legally pay less taxes.

This could be because one day I hope to be one of those people who has to worry about being taxed too much on my vast financial holdings.

Now, ON TOPIC for the Jeepster BBS, did you guys see this? Bush is undoing the Clinton landgrabs:

Amen NoBucks. The rich and business owners put their money to work. It's not like they just let it sit in a coffee can. This will benfit everyone, but not overnite.

Reagan's supply side economics worked perfectly, including the estimated 12 year wait to fruition. Then the person in charge took the credt while changing things that put us back in the dumpster.

Yes, I have some stock action.

Any money that stays in circulation - in private, not government
hands, keeps circulating, employing more people who buy
things and circulate it some more.

Once the gov't steals it - yes STEALS IT - it goes overseas
as a gift to some country that hates us for giving it to
them. It circulates over there where it doesn't help us at all.

Steals IT - the income tax amendment was never legally passed!

I own stocks - sometimes - yesterday none, today quite a bit.
If they continue to work for me tomorrow I'll keep them all day
tomorrow too.

I love this BBS. Where else can you own one of coolest jeeps in the world, and support the political views that will make this word a greater place for all Americans.

Reagan was the best prez. of my time, and I hope with all the infuence George W. has in Washington, he can achieve a close second.

Go George W., put money in our pockets so we can buy more jeep parts and support our economy.

If they really wanted to stimulate the economy they'd find a way to cut payroll tax. More money in everyones check each week means more spending.

Reagan the best Prez of our time? Have you forgotten the whole Iran/Contra deal? That seems a bit worse than lying about getting a BJ. In either case was anyone supprised that a politition lied? They all lie!

I agree about cutting the payroll tax, even though I'm "self-employed" (according to the gov't). I'd like to see people keep more of their money up front and get interest from it, than see it go to the government for a few months then come back as a refund.

Personally, I was satisfied with Iran/Contra. I wish they would've left Iran out of the picture, but working behind the scenes to overthrow the Sandinistas and Communism/Totalitarianism in Central America was very in character for Reagan, who was more interested in actively promoting democracy and freedom worldwide than in getting a BJ from an intern. It was Reagan and his cold war hardline and activism (including the Contra movement) that defeated the Soviets and brought down the Berlin Wall.

Plus, just to show that I'm an equal opportunity Reagan promoter, Iran/Contra also was preferable to Nixon lying to save his a$$ after committing crimes to get re-elected. Nixon was a great president too, but he blew it by losing control of his people.

Joel --- RIGHT ON!
Very well put!

The thing I worry about with Bush is the "security" things
he's putting in place, like military being able to invade
homes, road blocks, secret arrests, new prison camps set up,
"accusation of your nosy neighbor means your are guilty,"
and their "guilty until proven innocent" stuff.

They promise us "it won't be used against citizens, just in
emergencies."
But once the Utopian/Damocrats get back in, those same laws
will be used against us. JUST WATCH!

Read al gore's first book to see how he thinks the population
should be controlled and restriced, and about his idol
Karl Marx.
He says a society that's armed, free to move about and is
not controlled and restricted, is a threat to govenment.
He always considered himself an "elite," not part of society,
a diety that was born to rule.

He never even got a driver's license, didn't need one, when
"his majesty" (I refuse to use capital letters on him) was
always driven around.

Read that book!

cigarette tax could be 50 bucks a pack i dont mind, i used to smoke though (nasty habit) but yeah dangit how can these reforms work for us they are for trickle down economics, well then hey all we have to do is get rich, then we can enjoy tax breaks, this is one cal i can say is good but is a little sided towardds the rich, which we all know repubs support, or at least had the fear they did, seems like the steroetyping of the parties is right on the money.........Crazy huh? We just lost our governor Jesse Ventura.....Sad day for wrestling fans...LOL buit hey maybe they wil make another PREDATOR...WHOOOYAAAAA!!!!!

Okay, here's how trickle down works:

A Jeepster owner gets a tax break and now has more money to spend on his Jeepster: He buys that set of stainless steel shackles that he couldn't afford to buy before because he was paying taxes. That's $140 in your pocket that wasn't there before, but is a direct result of that guy getting a tax cut.

Maybe that Jeepster owner decides he can now afford a new house with all the extra money he has: There's money that goes to a contractor and all the carpenters that work for the contractor. Plus, they buy their materials from the local lumber yard.

Plus the lucky Jeepster owner decides that now he can afford to build a garage for his Jeepster and fit it out with new tools. That's money in the Snap-On guy's pocket,

Plus, he hires Queen Landscaping to lay the sod in his new yard, and also decides that now he can buy one of TomCat's rollcages. That's money in Richard's and Tom's businesses.

In addition, that guy can possibly afford an to buy an extra Jeepster Calendar to hang in that garage, which is money in my pocket (and the Club's pocket), even though I didn't actually get the tax cut myself.

More money goes into the economy as a result of the tax cut, which is good for everyone.

SO what about the lost tax revenue? Well, So many people are now hiring Richard Queen, buying rollcages from Tom, and shackles from you, that you guys make more money this year and you end up paying more taxes than you were before (but still have more take home pay, thanks to the tax cut). More taxpayers means more money into the government treasury as well.

See, trickle down works!

In case you naysayers have missed the point...All money trickles down from the rich. We are employed by them. If you arent working, niether of you are getting richer. You have to start at the top to improve the nation's economy.
The democrat way is to run arround at the bottom with feel good efforts. It dosent get back to the manufactures that create the jobs. It has always struck me as funny how we Americans get every thing straightened out with a few terms of republicans, then get greedy and whiny and put in the democrats to party for a while. This last one not only discraced us and our pride, he allowed the terrorist, China, and north Korea to develop into deadly problems. All for another Reoublican to straighten out again. This time costing thousands of human lifes. When the democrats are in it is not cool to be Patriotic. This is due to the White house becomming a Whore house. Who wants to be proud?
God bless Bush. He is not perfect, but If we can stay on the same track for a while we can clean up the Last Liberal mess and move on. Hell, we may even buy new silver ware for the White house!
Putting a bandaid on it with a little more cash in you pocket from your paycheck will not fix it.Who can do more to stimulate the economy... you with 100 bucks or your employer with 100 grand. This proposal has huge incentives for companies to buy new equipment/assets of 75 grand. I used to work for Cat. Not many folks are buying 50 grand dozers lately. But if a lot of companies had this credit I would be on overtime filling orders. Much better than a little tax bonous. Which, by the way, he also included a thousand dollar child's tax credit. Up from 650(I think)

Oh yeah # 2!
To his credit the first President to do this same tax break was JFK.
I hate to admit it, but he did it and it worked.
Of course, he had done enough damage elsewhere to put him on the S##t list in my book.
As far as the whore err... I mean White house is concerned.
Marilyn Monroe, I could see the temptation...
