The pop-ups are intrusive enough, but the adds that seem to be included in the posts are over the edge

...The green double underlined things.

I thought the guys were doing this, at first, but they have nothing to do with their posts. Could we get an explanation?

This is the first time I've seen content linked directly to advertizers anywhere on the web, so I guess we are cutting edge. The popup is a pain in the arse and I've asked them to stop with the ones with sounds. Luckily, Windows XP SP2 has a new version of Internet Explorer that has a popup blocker and it works.

For the most part, these ads are how we pay for the server hardware, additional memory, hard disk space, software and upgrades, programmers, content providers, network connectivity and network bandwidth, maintenance, air conditioning and office space to house it all, so that you can have this BBS for free.

I understand that the ads are what pays for the BBS. This is a really cool free BBS and putting up with the ads isn't that big of prices to pay, I guess. That loud-azz <nobr>Nissan</nobr> pop-up does suck, though. And as for the "green things", just don't click them. Once we all know what they are, we can ignore them.

No, you'll never see me working on a bullnose unless I'm fixing it for somebody else. Being a double amputee does suck, though. It's hard to hold a 1" wrench in your teeth.

Go here and D/L the free ad-ware 6.0 and than up date it. This program is fantastic and sloved all my problems. web page

You should also pick up on a free "spy ware" program I use Window washer. Off-Road.com is getting paid for running pop-up ads and spy ware. Not very nice! This is why i created the "donation" link, in hopes that people would pitch in, so that the club could have its own independent site free of off-road.com.

I don't know guys, I am running a Mac, using Safari as a browser, have never seen a popup ad anywhere, just check the "block popup windows", works all the time---Sorry, it is only Mac compatible!

The cost will be off-set by membership fees. I feel comfortable with $25.00 per member. That is based on 300 memebers. I have the web site (VPS), paid for by me, but have no one that will commit to building it with me. I am not a programer. Part of that $25.00 also goes for other expenses such as, merchandise, flyers. events, ETC.
