With all this cold weather (not as bad as the Canuks thatnk god) I am building a new 39' 4 lane raceset out in the shop to keep the local crew busy when we get too stir crazy when it is - whatever out. I used to run AFX and some Tjet Aurora back in the day (late 60's -79) and I am just curious who else has find memorys?/still collects/races?

I have a bunch of new in the box tyco h.o. cars from the late 70s through the late 90s . I guess a hundred or so . I have another 25 or so open box ones that I run .
Since they quit making tyco cars I have been collecting 1/24th and 1/32nd Carrerra cars . The cool thing about the carrerras is you really have to drive them . Where the tyco, lifelike cars have such strong magnets that you just pull the trigger .
The carrerras are a little pricey though .I have a few n.o.s. riggins cars and sets too . I never like the Auroroa alot . I never had a reason beyond that I got a lot of Tyco track for free ! Once I build my new office/addition I will be putting a track in . But I think it will be a 1/24th setup .
Eventually I am putting a R.C. track in the sideyard to run my traxxas stadium truck on . I think I will always be a kid !

I allways ran the AFX stuff so I am going with the Tomy AFX track to build off of. They (internet sites etc) say it is the most consistant of the plastic tracks. I guess it is a ford VS Chevy kind of thing! the older Tjet cars had no magnats and you had to be much more aware of driving them.
the track I am building is going to have alot of tight turns so you WILL have to do some driving. that and better controllers are in order too along with a quality power supply. (One of the times when being a tech helps. 5 amp 0-30V supply for nada baby!)
Should be fun. Dad made a 1/32 or 1/24 track for a local hobby shop back in the 60's all custom and it was neat. wish I could get my paws on that! I am sticking with HO right now for the size. I can do 30+ feet in a 4x8' table.

I have some but they are newer like mid 80's. When I was a kid I had a big ole setup of 1/32 cars. My buddie had the HO stuff. I remember going to the hobbie shop and buying slicks and new decals to make them go faster.
