Rush made a good point today. The government been complaining about gas prices for months, but have not done anything about it. now that the election coming to the straight stretch Clinton will proberly release the price to drop. In other word it would be a gauretee vote scam. Democrat been holding the price up all along. ain't it werid that 60 days out Gore start talking about the oil reserve.

Sycho15, with regards to your writing:

"We haven't had any REALLY GOOD presedents since it became too expensive for anyone from the
middle-class (even the upper-middle-class) to run for office."

AMEN, BROTHER!

I dont think I would fit in with all the suits, and their BS.
I for one at the first sign of a drawn out philibuster, would drag my old worn out NP435 from out of the back seat of the limo, haul it up onto my desk, and start breaking it down for future placement behind my nearly completed 5.0 SVO engine. Bipartisan??? sure how bouts you let me borrow some more desk top room from my neighboring distinguished colleagues, and you can all draw off the Kegger at my motor swap party later this winter.
Hey, who votes we should stack a big pile of rocks on the whitehouse lawn, come on guys get those hands up, it will surely help in keeping my buddies from those water crossings at the Washington Monument, that some of you Senators have voiced your disapproval of. Fine this is getting nowhere lets break for beer.

Hey that doesnt sound so bad after all, where do I sign up.
Would I get to have my own intern? Hmmmmm, Jeepchick may not approve of that.

And CJ-Dave could add a Jeep-Lab onto the White-house! Who needs a rose-garden anyway? They can stop and smell the welding fumes /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif He could definately get all the votes in the Northern half of the US if we had a bad winter. With Sno-Jeep he'd be the only guy to get to the debate and have that TV studio all to himself...

Sycho15 there never has been a president from the middle class or upper middle class, right from the start of the country Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Monroe etc. all rich men by the standart of the day.And it still stands true today. Thats why presidents and congressmen are so out of touch with the common Joe, they worry about thier portfolios, tax shelters, and investments not the every day run of the mill problems that the average american is worried about.

Gas prices suck. Paying anywhere between a 1.59 and 1.70 depending on what day it is. Cheaper in the beginning of the week and more expensive as the weekend comes. I've been driving for 15 years and it is the most ridiculous thing I have seen. later ken

"Gas prices suck"
"The post office sucks"
"michigan weathermen suck"
"and getting some pinion nut off a amc 20 that has been on there for 22 years really sucks"

Was it Andrew Jackson that threw the party in the Whitehouse for all of his "hillbilly" friends that got out of control? I believe it was. A lot of military men have become president, and I doubt they were really "out of touch" with the "common man"

I still don't agree all of the military men who became presidents were not just enlisted men they where generals not your average joe.And although jackson became pres. I'm sure there was money behind him some where, and even if there wasn't that was one out of how many and a long time ago at that. And just how in touch is a general with the average GI, not at all.

Yep Gore would do or say anything to be President.
If he is elected it will be a signal to liberals that they have a mandate from the pepole to take away many of the freedoms we enjoy. God help us!

Most candidates will do or say anything to get elected.
Bush just needs to continue to do or something if we are goint to see him elected. Bush gave a pretty good speach on eduction the other day in Oregon, and it seemed very well received even by the media. Thats all he needs to do is quit finger pointing and talk about issues, and he wont have to much trouble closing the gap at the polls. Local and state elections, across the National outlook seem to be favoring a few more Republican positions also in November. If the republicans can avoid there recently overused tactic of finger pointing, and continue to talk to the people, the outcome in November may offer hope. Of course then they will need to quit arguing within the GOP and fullfill there visions and promises. If Bush can get elected there will be no party to stand in the way of the GOP, they will control the Presidency the House and the Senate. It will be interesting to see how they handle the power, if the cards play out in their favor.

Bush just needs to play the clinton game of saying what people want to hear. And adjust it to the people your talking to at that time, and if some one questions him about saying differant things to differant people just do the ussual political thing of saying thats not what I ment by that you must be taking it out of context.
