Hi there,

during my engine swap I had to notch the crossmember carrying the hood latch.

What are my options for a replacing the stock hood latch?
I know there are Jeep-type latches. I have seen pin-type latches which are ment to be bad for body flex.
Are there any other options? Are there any downsides to the jeep-type latch?

I appreciate all your tipps and comments.

Best regards,

norbert

Couldnt you make the stock latch a bolt on? Get one off a wreck or make a wide mouinting plate out of
1/8 plate and bolt it on each side past the notch.

The jeep latches should work also, or the pins. Pins are a pain to get lined up properly is all.

pins are easy mount the pins to the core support then use a rubber mallet to tap the hood over were the pin is it will dimple over the pin then drill the hood from the under side since the dimple will act like you used a punch ( don't wack the hood just tap it till it dimples) then just ade the chrome cover plate and screws and pin .... goo wheeling that easy!!!

Hi y'all,

thanks for your tipps. Today I have learned that pins with clips are not street legal where I live. I guess I will use some jeep-style short rubber latches. In addition I will try to relocate the stock latch to have some sort of hood lock.

Nevertheless I will try a different office of our street athorities as I really like the pin-type.

Regards,

norbert
