Hello,
I'm buying some parts from a guy here on the other side of the country, and all the pictures look good. Can anyone tell me if there's any reason not to trust Don Fletcher? I have no reason not to, but I've been ripped off in the past and don't want to make the same mistake.
Thanks,
Peter Meyer

I'll second that. Hey Don, do i get a discount now?

I just sold a big item on ebay, I used PayPal, it's worth the 3% or whatever to let the purchaser pay by card, but there is no way i would accept any checks other than US Postal Money Order, or a Cashiers Check drawn on BofA or another national chain.

Don is top notch! I just got a D44 rear and D30 front end off of him as well as many items in the past and it's all up front and honest.

I'll vouch for Don, in that he gave me pizza and beer and let me sit on his couch when I was visiting. He didn't even flinch when my dog dug up his wifes flowers. Top notch dude. Your lucky you hooked up with him. I

I agree with all the posts. Have not met Don but bought some windows from him recently. He is honest and his parts were as described.
He is also very helpful with technical information on verts. Dave

I think he was running for governor of California, but I heard he dropped out - he wanted to fool with Jeepsters instead. More fun, less hastle.

If he doesn't have it, he'll horse-trade till he gets it.

I purchased a D44 rear axle from him after my D30 blew up - sent a friend to pick it up. Once I got the axle opened up and inspected turns out the axle shafts were bad - one bent, the other had spline damage. The housing was fine.

I called Don and told him about the problem - so he sent replacement axle shafts from another rear end for no charge to make the deal right. He is not the cheapest - but he will stand behind what he sold to you.

If it wasnt for Don My rigs would not even roll, Ive always wanted to put a sticker on my rig that says POWERED BY FLETCH. Ive bought two engines one for my 70 and the other for my 71, plus numerous and I mean numerous other parts. Always helpful and always good to do business with. So no gripes here.

Oh and if you ever run for govenor again you've got my vote.

WOW!

Wow, all this response makes me feel almost guilty for ever questioning Don! The guy I originally bought my Commando from (oh, lets call him NATHAN OLSEN OF NORTHERN MICHIGAN) said the car was 'rust free' and had a 'perfect liftgate.' Stupid me, I took his word, and 1970 Jeepster Commando was delivered. After he drove off, I got in the car and noticed that the 'rust free' floor was just tin over a cancer ridden tub. Once I peeled the tin off, I could stick my arm through the tub and touch the ground! And the 'perfect' liftgate broke apart when i closed it (the rust had eaten away at it all through.) Looks like I won't have to worry with Mr. Fletcher though! Course, had it not been for Olsen I wouldn't have needed to get a whole new body tub....

(Now I feel bad for not opening this up sooner.) Don's GREAT. I've got power steering, a soft top, transmission, etc., etc, from Don. Always a pleasure to get out there for a visit.

I'm another satified customer of Don's. I've met him on a couple of occassions and purchased parts from him. He's a stand-up guy, you have no reason to worry. If you ever get a chance to see "Jeepsterville" it's worth the effort.

Re: WOW!

Looks to me that Peter has received the information he was looking for.
Thanks for all the nice words but I must say this has been a little awkward
for me. I visit this board several times a day and truthfully It's not been
easy for me to log on recently. Even though all the responses have been positive, I
think if I were Peter, I would have asked for personal references from me
(I could have given him as many as needed from coast to coast), or
posted a note on this board asking for feedback to his private
message or personal e mail. That way all could have responded without any
pressure (positive or negative). If I were a jeep selling business, I think Peter's
post on this board in that format would be appropriate. But I am not. I buy, sell, build, restore and
trade jeepsters and jeepster parts as a hobby. Hopefully, I've provided a
a helpful hand to some in finding a few of those hard to find parts, tubs or complete vehicles. I
do it because it's fun and will continue to do so as long as it's fun for me. If I had to sell jeepster parts for a living, I would starve.

The sooner this post disappears into the archives, the better.

thanks again-Jeepdog

Re: WOW!

Statewins,

If you live in Mi and believed someone had a jeepster, which was in your state that was rust free,
you ought to buy the bridge I have for sale. It's in" Brooklyn"
That's all right though. When I lived in Maui the people that lived there believed it did not have rust unless you could put your hand through the hole.
And if you believe Don, as some say, is high sometime in price $$$
there are people out there that can tell you he used to give it away.
[Not knowingly]
I have listened to his wife and I know the truthhhhh.
Only after the YARD was done along with all the "honey Do's" and last but not least ALL the "stuff OUT" of the garage was he was aloud to use the indoor bathroom.
I know Don asked me not to inject my off the wall humor???
but he has not been able to get his hat on since this started.
I bet his pants are getting tight.
I promised not to say anything so I won't.
[Ha Ha].
