As some of you know, I trashed my 1st t-150 in about 500 miles. I snagged another one, out of a cj-7, a couple weeks back and threw it in. It shifts and drives/sounds fine, but not too long ago i sprung a *major* leak between my trans and tcase. I seperated the two today, thinking that i just hadn't used enough rtv....and what did i find - comparing my old t-150 with the new one, i found that the new one has like 2 or 3 holes in the back that the old one did not. fluid passages i'd assume.

There are no matching holes on my dana 20. it just has the opening for the input gear and one hole to the right of that. What to do? I'm assuming that thats why i sprung the leak..fluid trying to get through to the tcase, and not having anywhere else to go aside from out through the crack in between. What do I do about this? Is this a common problem?

thanks,
pablo

I had a similar issue when I bought my CJ. Are you sure it's actually coming from between the two housings? There should be little presssure to cause such a leak. Check and see if it is maybe coming from the vent for the transfer case.

Mine started DUMPING fluid out of the transfer case vent. The tranny was pushing it out and into the t-case. I ordered a gasket/seal kit off of e-bay. This came with two styles of gasket for in between. One with no extra holes. It also came with an output seal. I wasn't aware that I required this and one was not installed when I took it apart. After looking at both the tranny and t-case I decided that it couldn't hurt to put it in so I did.

Don't know if it was the gasket ot the output seal, but problem solved. Good luck with yours, hope this helped.
