I am thinking of different ideas for an onboard air setup and I had the idea of using a power inverter and a regular 120 volt AC air compressor. Would this work or would the power inverter have to be really big to run a compressor? I want the air to mainly air up tires, but maybe for an impact gun too. Has anyone attempted this??

An electric compressor would probably require to many AMPs for an inverter to keep up with it. Even if it would run you would probably burn up the electric motor on the compressor.

A york is going to put out more volume than any electric which you would want to put in your Jeep. I sure wouldn't want a big 5hp compressor taking up valuable cargo space and as mentioned a little inverter wouldn't provide the amperage necessary to keep up.
