On board Air

I have a '98 TJ and want on board air. The thing came with A/C. Could I just disconnect the compressor from all the A/C stuff and plumb it to feed a tank? If I did this would I just have to put the A/C switch on and get air flowing? Sorry if these are dumb questions. I'm just sort of thinking out loud.

Here is a question. In stead of making a sattelite from the York, Couldn't you say make a mount on the inside fender well and run a belt from the york over to the fender well mounted accesory?? My only thing would be engine movement that might yank the belt, but could there be a way to make the mount felx with the engine.
Just a little idea to throw inot the mix

At least i cam not crazy to think of that . It seems it would be easier to make the brackets for that way of mounting it. I hope it worked well for you CJDave
