HI first time posting on this board.I have an 90 ranger with the 2.3 4cyl and 5spd. The oil pump seems to have gone south on me, and I'm having a nightmare trying to get the oil pan off.I have the tranny mount unbolted, starter out, engine mounts un done and both the engine and tranny jacked up as high as seems possible.Anyone ever done this before, any hints. Thanks in advance, I'm freezing my a__ off in an unheated garage . thanks Gary
What you're doing only gives you enough room to reach in the pan and remove the pickup tube from the pump. After you remove the pickup tube, the pan will slide right out.
Changing the pump in Rangers is a nightmare, so make sure you clean the mating surfaces really well on the pan when you reinstall. You don't want to do this twice.
