The weather today here in Northern Cal was about 74 degrees, tomorrow its supposed to be high 70s and into the 80s on Sunday.
So Im driving back in my company truck (02, F150) from a jobsite out by the Sacramento River Delta today, and I decided to take the route that follows the levies(sp??), it was an awsome day, and I had the windows down,... its spring time and everything is great,..right?
Well around a corner comes a sweet looking Black CJ7 with the top off, and the guy driving with one foot on the rocker panel, just cruising along, I instinctively flashed a Jeep wave and he surprisingly returned one to me even though I was in the truck. He drove by and just had that, I sure am glad Im in my Jeep look on his face. And I thought to myself, this will be a great weekend to go for a top down drive with jeepchick,...

,...thats when it hit me,....I turned my Jeep into a buggy,...I dont have a Jeep to drive

. What have I done? I am really gonna have to get out and start shoping for another YJ very soon. It would suck to go without having a Jeep (to drive somewhere other than competitions and trail runs) throughout the summer.

Yup, you got to get another one. This time maybe a CJ (you know the whole round headlights deal..:) )
Yes, the weather here in bay area is nice, and I had almost the same thoughts about this weekend - driving with top down, no doors, down the HWY 1... but my baby is in the garage with body on one side of the garage, chassis on the another and half of her insights are in the boxes...but it will be sweet once I put it back together.

Good luck with your decision!

I would agree another Jeep is needed. I'd favor the YJ over the CJ...., personal opinion

. I'm headed up to Farmington next to wheel a little and go to the UROC event next weekend

, I am hoping for some bikini top + no doors weather 'cause that is truly one of the best feelings in the whole world!! Good luck with the search.

I knew you's miss your jeep when the weather got nice..
really its been a couple summers now for you...
what you need is a nice tj with low miles. round headlights, low maintenance, tops that fold easily....
I'd like to stretch my wheelbase a bit and some other things, but I enjoy driving my jeep everyday too much to get all that wild.
I think buggies are fun....but jeeps are more fun.

Yup, time to go shopping Jeff. I totally believe that the single best way to enjoy a jeep (assuming you only have one) is everywhere.
Looks like a nice killer streetqueen / mild trail beast is next up in your collection. That way you still have your comp. machine and will have a jeep that you can enjoy everywhere else.
Get and build the next one so that you can enjoy it ALL the time.

And have fun shopping.

I think that is a problem for a lot of us, where do you stop? I love driving my jeep and don't want to build it to the point of being unstreetable. It is a fine line. I think my jeep is about in the middle, pretty good on the trail but I can still drive it to work. When I'm driving my truck and see another jeep I think, damn wish I was in the jeep! Don't get a CJ Jeff, I'd hate to see you have to junk out that YJ after all that hard work you'v done only to discover that you should have built a CJ to start with! Bug eyed? You betcha!

Again. But then, I don't know why you guys are waiting for 80 degree weather. Here in Denver after a record snow storm, 6 days later there are guys driving with bikini tops on and no doors. It still in the 30's here. L8r,

Yep, I'm definitely here what you're saying. Today was beautiful in the Bay Area. I just pulled my tranny last night, so I was inoperable too. All day I was wishing I could have gone out for a drive in the Jeep. Hopefully the tranny rebuild won't take too long and I'll be back on the road again.
