Seeing how stuck or extreme, thats all there is on the best trails. The best part of the day is when you line up on rock or hill that has regularly rolled rigs set up just like yours. Or finally making it up and over a 6 ft ledge youve never been able to make before. Or sliding hard off a rock and scaring the bejeebas out of your self. There are many trails out there built just for that, The Victor valley 4 Wheelers take care of a huge chunk of dessert just for that purpose out in Johnson Valley. I enjoy a trail ride as much as the next guy, but I didnt build my Jeep to leisurely cruise trails that my dads Buick is comfortable on. Everyone has there own idea of what a great day on the trail is all about. Mine is getting the Jeep pointing straight in the air and trying to grab inches at a time clawing your way up a rock without going on your lid. Broken parts? Who cares, as long as no one gets hurt its a great day. Furtunately Ive had the chance to wheel with a lot of clubs on a lot of trails, and Ive never run across a group that preaches the hard line purity, of mind and soul, and oh the potential evils that may await us all at every turn. Common sense is always the call of the day, and each driver is left to stay within his or her limits, be it choice of obstacles, or whatever else. And although an "AMEN" or a "Hallulullia" are often in order, its never due to the rantings of those who would try to steer our poor wayward souls onto the path of enlightement. Durring the day we throw nothing out of the vehichles, except an occasional Garage Sale caused by the ejection of anything not tied down durring a rollover. We make sure the roll cage did its job, address any injuries,Take pictures, pick up the mess, make repairs, usually have a beer(it really does calm the nerves), and move on. A good time is had by all.
Before the rebuttals pile up just keep in mind, I am 40 years old, I learned a long time ago how to take care of myself, I have never had a run in with the law, except for fighting when I was younger angry man, And I dont beleive in preachers,I have seen a few to many Jimmy Swaggerts with thier hookers or Jim Jones stealing money from thier followers, or Catholic priests a little to friendly with the Alter Boys. It seems the ones who preach the loudest are the ones most out of control. However If I ever see you broke down or hurt on a trail I'll always lend a hand. But Please try not to preach at me while Im helping out. If youd rather refuse the help thats fine too, Ill respect your choice even if it makes no sense to me.
