I have remained silent for as long as I can! I am offended and personally appalled that there are this many post/responses to this issue. I think the concern is genuine, and I personally will let adults make there own decisions. I choose not to play the what if game, in regards to drinking and driving. What has gotten under my skin with this is the fact that you people need to get up on your soap boxes and get behind something that is honestly important and concerns all of us directly, like the fact that the GOV. IS SELLING/CLOSING TRAILS and NATIONAL FOREST LAND. Seriously, you honestly believe that your stories of BLOOD RUN RED ON THE TRAIL, and idle threats are going to change someone's mind about having a beer and driving, that ridiculous, get a CLUE. I know that in every state (NO DEBATE PLEASE) to legally purchase alcohol you have to be an adult, if you choose to make poor decisions with that purchase, you will eventually be punished for it. BOTTOM LINE. Come on, we have a common interest here, that's a love for the outdoors and our vehicles. Be supportive of each other and our interests, you're arguing with yourselves.

Just my thoughts...Please only respond if it's not about beer cause I DON"T what to start another thread on it!!!!

So which do you prefer, BFG M/T or Cooper STT?/wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif Seriously, I don't think anyone has any dillusions that they'll be able to change anyone's minds on any of the topics on which we argue; this one included. Just remember, you can't spell BBS without BS.

I'm a big fan of the Cooper's, Thanks Tex. The point that I really wanted to make was we need this same desire, and drive on land issues...BB...es??/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif

I wish they would close all the public land, keep some nature around for the future generation to see. With all these stupid beer drinking ******** tearing up the countryside it would be nice to have true wilderness. While they are at it, burn all the jetski too.

Well then, I haven't been online for a while due to all there overtime I've been put in, but whats all this talk about beer and 4-wheelin? One of the last post I made was about having a beer or two at the local wreckers, and some MOMO disagreed by stating that having a beer after work is not acceptable! So then, where and when is the rightplace and time to enjoy a crisper one? Well certainly not driving on a paved road, or for that matter going 100kms as for drink at work, while come on if your work is not brain surgery a beer or two wouldn't hurt. Though I would think that being plastered at work would be very un-cool, unfortently ones common sense becomes somewhat cloudy! As for 4-wheel and brewskis this is common place around these parts, gettin a little beerbuzz and seeing how stuck or exetreme you can push it! You cats that don't belive in, or look down on us that enjoy the odd social drink on the trail, we laugh at, cause your usually the ones who have dropped 30k into your rigs and don't know the first fu#$in thing about them! There has been many a time we have helped you so called "PROFESSIONAL HARDCORE 4-WHEELERS" out! But anyways there a time and place for every thing, and having a beer or two when on some hell and gone loggin trail is alright!

too weird to live, too rare to die!

I'm sorry but I finally have to respond, and I'm not going to bring up beer because that has more then been covered lately. But "seeing how stuck or extreme you can push it" doesn't sound like a good way to change peoples minds about responsable 4-wheelers. Remember, people are trying to CLOSE trails, beaches, etc.. If you want to do that on "PRIVATE" property, be my guest, but please state that it is your property. As for me and many others, we aren't blessed with owning land we can wheel on and have to use state owned land for fishing, hunting, etc.. We try to do our best to set good examples. And I'm sorry, but where I come from One tries his best to NOT get stuck. Rember "TREAD LIGHTLY!
Sorry for the rant but I personally want to continue my beach driving/surf fishing for a long while.

Great - more trash on the trail!!!

I don't give a flip if you drink while OFF ROAD. . . JUST DON'T BE A NASTY TRAIL PIG AND THROW YOUR FREAKING CANS AND BOTTLES ALL OVER THE PLACE!!!!! Ever notice how the bulk of trash along the trails are empty beverage containers??????? Just because you are the "more perfect" off-roader by consuming adult beverages, you are not excused from turning our trails into the local dumps!!!!! PACK OUT WHAT YOU PACK IN!!!!!

Liberals don't mind being lied to . . . they just want to be lied to by someone they trust!
Seeing how stuck or extreme, thats all there is on the best trails. The best part of the day is when you line up on rock or hill that has regularly rolled rigs set up just like yours. Or finally making it up and over a 6 ft ledge youve never been able to make before. Or sliding hard off a rock and scaring the bejeebas out of your self. There are many trails out there built just for that, The Victor valley 4 Wheelers take care of a huge chunk of dessert just for that purpose out in Johnson Valley. I enjoy a trail ride as much as the next guy, but I didnt build my Jeep to leisurely cruise trails that my dads Buick is comfortable on. Everyone has there own idea of what a great day on the trail is all about. Mine is getting the Jeep pointing straight in the air and trying to grab inches at a time clawing your way up a rock without going on your lid. Broken parts? Who cares, as long as no one gets hurt its a great day. Furtunately Ive had the chance to wheel with a lot of clubs on a lot of trails, and Ive never run across a group that preaches the hard line purity, of mind and soul, and oh the potential evils that may await us all at every turn. Common sense is always the call of the day, and each driver is left to stay within his or her limits, be it choice of obstacles, or whatever else. And although an "AMEN" or a "Hallulullia" are often in order, its never due to the rantings of those who would try to steer our poor wayward souls onto the path of enlightement. Durring the day we throw nothing out of the vehichles, except an occasional Garage Sale caused by the ejection of anything not tied down durring a rollover. We make sure the roll cage did its job, address any injuries,Take pictures, pick up the mess, make repairs, usually have a beer(it really does calm the nerves), and move on. A good time is had by all.
Before the rebuttals pile up just keep in mind, I am 40 years old, I learned a long time ago how to take care of myself, I have never had a run in with the law, except for fighting when I was younger angry man, And I dont beleive in preachers,I have seen a few to many Jimmy Swaggerts with thier hookers or Jim Jones stealing money from thier followers, or Catholic priests a little to friendly with the Alter Boys. It seems the ones who preach the loudest are the ones most out of control. However If I ever see you broke down or hurt on a trail I'll always lend a hand. But Please try not to preach at me while Im helping out. If youd rather refuse the help thats fine too, Ill respect your choice even if it makes no sense to me.

I'm sorry if I came across as preaching. Believe me , that I don,t do. I haven't even been to church in 20 years. I may have come out a little strong on my post but thats what happens when one doesn't think things through. I personally took the "getting stuck and extreme" as a disregards for the environment (BTW I'm not a greenie) in the method in which he wrote it. I am not against building up a vehicle to tackle tough trails that a stocker can't. Or taking them on for the sole purpose of seeing if it can be done. That is part of wheeling. Isn't it? I just vented my thoughts because anybody can read this bb. Personally I feel we all have to watch out how we come across to the "other side". That is my oppinion. Lately I have been spending a lot of time on a couple of animal rights bb's and I am really facing reality that there are people who want to take our privaledges away, whether it is hunting, fishing, off-roading, or even eating meat. Then I see the ads for new suv's blasting across the landscape, read people talking about "extreeme 4-wheelin and 'trying' to get stuck", even people talking about how cars should be made safer to withstand accidents from our modified vehicles (over on the chevy board). It all went together and I had to vent on something. Of all those "privaledges" people are trying to take away I'm sorry, but 4-wheeling is the one they have the easiest chance at so I feel we have to watch how we come across! Sorry if I attacked your style of wheeling. As there is responsable extreeme, and "irresponsable" extreeme. I took that post as the later.
Once again sorry.
BTW, I am not preaching, flaming, or bad-mouthing anyone, just stating my opinion!
Thanks

Come on people. GROW UP!!!! if you don't like the fact that someone is/isn't into drinking on the trail....go to a new one. If you're ready to save the trail from our "friendly politicians" it's time to come together. All this fighting among us is tearing us apart, and making it easier for them to do whatever they have in their little minds at the time.....lately it seems closing OUR playground is their #1 priotity. When they see us fighting each other...it will stay the #1 priority. So please...GROW UP, let's have fun the way WE like and send the elected idiots a message....Yes this is my 2 cents...but damn...enough of them can add up to buy more JEEP parts....

When I was younger, I drank a lot, don't know why. I just can't see why people need to drink, why would you want to dull your senses on purpose? If life sucks so much that you need to relax with beer, change your life, I did. I get a shiver when I think back, glad I didn't kill anybody, got close.

Just a farmer, who drinks to much coffee.
G
Just another 0.2 worth. No one cares if you like to drink, thats your perogitive.I just think since so many are against offroading, drinking
in that situation can only do more harm than good cause you all know how a "drinking offroader" would be exploited. It wouldnt matter
if he had a Jeep full of someone else's trash he just picked up,only the drinking part would be news/ammo against him and everyone else
Just seems like common sense to me not to do it in public area's.If its your own property or similar away from where the "wrong" people
might see it,go for it if you want.Or back at camp as long as it isnt advertised like i see around here in some camping area's.Like
a line of empties sitting in view, loud unruly people showing off making fools of themselves. We all have seen the type, very easy to spot.
And we have to remember too, just because someone owns a Jeep etc, dont make him a responsible offroader, the vehicle has nothing
to do with that, and they do get mixed in with the responsible Jeep owners/offroaders and we all get a black eye cause of them.So is it
any wonder popping a top on just one, seen by the ones agaisnt us,does so much harm? Its so easy just to not do it and make it worse

Let's see . . . Drinking and Driving . . . Didn't we outlaw that years
ago?

This has got nothing to do with trash, extreme wheeling, greenies, or
anything else. If you Drink and Drive you are violating the law. Worse,
you could kill someone. If you do, I hope it is only you that is killed.

Just my opinion.

yes we did outlaw drinking and driving.. but we havent yet outlawed having a drink and then driving.. that is why there is a legal LIMIT.. one beer in one hour will give the average man a bac of .02% and in most states the legal limit is .08%.. that is why it is called a limit.. that one beer will intern leave a mans system in one hour at a rate of .01%
