As for off topic posting...

This IS my life... For the next 15 minutes anyway....
And for an hour or more every day. I look forward to comming here!

I don't care what you post, or anyone else for that matter...
If you don't like it, don't open it...

Jokes I'm OK with... I don't normally open the political stuff...
I'm about as non political as one person can get. I have my opinion, no one on this board is going to change it.
I vote, so If I want to b*tch I'm allowed, I just don't see much point in it.

Whining about the off topic threads is pretty much the same thing.
I contribute here, so I have a right to post what I feel like sharing with the others here...
I don't b*tch about off topic stuff because I go off topic on a regular basis...
I have more experiences that just Jeeps, and several people here have benefitted from those experiences...
I didn't learn starting and charging systems in a Jeep, or for Jeeps....
Same with ignition systems, or engine building... but my experiences, off topic to be sure, have helped a few here.

I'm sure I'll go off topic with jokes or stories, but it's something I want to share...
If you don't want it, or don't like it, hit the back button and leave the thread.
It's that easy.
I'll be done in a minute, and you can go on doing what ever you want to...

Some should lighten up about off topic postings. I learn a lot about the people here on their off topic postings.
CJ Dave is a left wing radical that loves Clinton & Gore.... /wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif
He's also one hell of a nice guy that will do anything he can for the people here...

We've traded stories, tech tips, jokes, insults, lies and everything else you can think of here except bodily fluids, and I'm a better person for it.
I've learned a lot, and I learn more every day here.

This is the closest thing to a Cyber campfire I can think of, and I really like it here.
Let's not spoil it with a bunch of hall monitor types wanting to censor everything that is posted......

Just my $0.02 worth...
Aaron.

TR......you are an opinion looking for a place to happen.....

Aaron...just kidding...I couldn't resist the chance....but I agree for the most part with you. I am a firm believer in the 1st Admendment....Freedom of speach...and the freedom to ignor it. Off topic threads are ok here if the intent is to share it with a specific group...but for the most part, I prefer the topics to be about jeeps. If I want to know about politics, I will visit a forum that talks about politics.

I feel the best way to handle unrelated posts is to just ignore it. Most people who get emotional about a political issue thrive on attention. Arguing with them adds fuel to their cause...ignore them and they will find someone else to preach at.............OMG...is that what I am doing now/wwwthreads_images/icons/frown.gif?

By the way...wish me luck guys....this weekend I'm putting the 4.10 gears in the front, going through my front axle completely...sand blast and paint it with POR 15. I'm also doing a tie rod flip and U-bolt reversal...not to mention a couple of other tricks. I'll take plenty of pics and post them when (and if) I'm done.....There...that makes this post related to jeeps /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif.

In some ways it's better than a campfire. For one you don't have to move out of the way of the smoke when the wind changes./wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif

I'm making my own, or at least part of it. I orderd the square u-bolts from National Spring...$59 for both axles, including tax. I'm making my own top plates because I'm doing a couple of extra things. First, I'm mounting one end of my stearing stabilizer to the top plate on the left side. This will put my shock straighter in relation to the drag link. In the rear, the top plate is going to be an integral part of an axle truss.

It all won't happen this weekend...but when I have it done, I'll post pictures.

FYI...it would be a lot cheaper to just buy the stuff....but not as much fun.

Well, I got the 4X Doctor stuff for about 2 1/2 years now and I just love it. Didn't hang up on the springs at all on the Rubicon.
I'll be looking for the pics, should be interesting.

/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif Er.....ah...sure...OK.....whatever you say. Oh, can we post about something that isn't STOCK JEEP? Like if the Jeep had a Chev-Lay 350 engine in it does it still qualify? What if it has a MODIFIED Jeep engine? If we change to a different carb does it still qualify? Can we use words like "Ford" if we want to describe a Ford-based upgrade? Where does a Jeep begin and end? If the only Jeep part is the tub is is still a Jeep? We need CLARIFACTION!!! We need GUIDELINES!!! We need to know EXACTLY what is off-topic...SPECIFICALLY. Can I mention a 12V hair dryer and cold box? This is WAYYY too unclear! Elucidate please!!! Notice I said please, this is a gentle BBS.

/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif GREAT suggestion, Ray! Now I have a suggestion for you/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif. Go to this sitehttp://www.anxietycenter.com/gore35.htm and download that list....make hundreds of copies....give them out to EVERYONE who walks into the store, and MAYBE two years from now you'll still have a job and Jeeps will still be an UNdangered species. ALgore has plans for you, for the auto industry, and for your Jeep whether you like to read about it on the BBS or not, Ray. ALL OF US would like to stick our heads in the sand and pay no attention whatsoever, but if we DO that, we'll be a-- out, and the greenies will own America. As someone once said: "Sorry if it hurts; this isn't a pillow fight!" A post now and then to REMIND US that the democraps ARE NOT our friends, will keep us sharp, and keep us aware that we must work tirelessly to defeat every damn democrap who runs for office in this country if we want to keep our freedoms. It's as simple as that.

As stated before, if you don't like it --don't open it!!! I personally enjoy the occasional off-topic posts, especially the ones by CJDave and TEAMRUSH. Sure the forum is about JEEPs, but it is not FOR JEEPs. It is for the people who work on and own JEEPs!! We are not Soilent Green here, we are living people with lives and interests. This is kind of a community here and we all like to BS about other things once in a while to keep ourselves amused while looking up information about our JEEPs and helping others with theirs. We don't need policing in this BBS about off topics. We need everyone to understand the people giving answers and asking questions. I don't want to come down on anyone here. This is my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

Don't eat the Soilent Green, we all know what it is made of.
PS. Notice that I mentioned JEEP four times. Valid post now.
