OD Green, sweet or played out?

Hey guys! This is my first thread so I might need some help on how to do all this!

I have an 03 Rubicon that after I got turned around offroad and ended up making my way for a mile or so down a 4 wheeler trail I decided it was time for some new paint. I was thinking of going with the old school OD green paint and doing the stars on the doors and hood, and serial numbers along with some other accents in matte white vinyl.

So what do you guys think? Is OD green still cool or is it played out?

I personally don't like the combination... it smacks of being something it's not. It's not a military vehicle, and no amount of paint and decals will make it one. It's not a military vehicle being restored to it's former glory.

I guess it goes back to my youth when you always looked at a WWII vet with awe... then came the 60's and it became fashionable to wear parts of a military uniform to protest against the military. Go figure...

I don't see much difference... but then, that's me...

While neither of my Jeeps is OD, and while I don't like the TJ Willys, I still like the OD on Jeeps. I agree that Jeep has such a military heritage that OD is paying homage to that heritage. I see Larry's thinking, but this is not the same as wearing a military uniform to protest our government. It is the opposite of that in my opinion. Unless you are being disrespectful, I say go for it if that's what you want.

Eh, different strokes for different folks. If you want your Jeep to be flat green, with stars and military insignias on it, go nuts.

For me, my Jeeps have shiny factory-style paint and no stars.

As for the Willys TJ... not my thing.

Now, if they made an old Jeep that really WAS an old jeep, that would be cool. Like say they reintroduced the CJ5. Leaf springs, simple engine, no cupholders, no nav system, no cruise, no AC, no subwoofers, no woofers of any kind, -- make a real old jeep. I wonder if that would sell.

Pete, I think it would sell like mad! I'd personally like to see more of an old cj-5 redone into more modern workings. Still simple, still pretty bare bones, but with some more modern things integrated in. And come on, I gotta have my my speakers!
