Now heres a pic of the articulation the modified one has. I took a 30 degree triangle and did some measurements. It looks like at 30:1 size difference the yellow one has = to 84" wheelbase and could score 1285 on a 30 degree ramp. I guess I have too much time on my hands since I am at a standstill on my real crawler.LOL

 

Very cool Grumpy . I thought mine was faster with the twin AA battery pack , wonder what the heck happens to that tiny motor with the 9v in it ? LOL , kewl mods anyway .... gotta get mine out one of these nasty days and work on it some more . Bunch of the guys in our local club have a simulated rock garden they compete in on the weekends .....table top style .

Wish I were there to join in on the fun. I have the whole collection of 6 different trucks and the playset unopened. But then again only those two are playable. I went ahead and got a close up of the biggun for you to see. The 9 volt does get the little motor warm over a long run. But it does run twice and fast and twice as powerful as the stocker. I have almost painted this one to match my sammy. Anyone else have any pics of thiers?

 

It's funny to watch grown men crowded around a table playing with kids toys for sure . Some have come up with some interesting mods such as cutting the tires , suspension "upgrades" , ect . I'm looking at the motor assembly in mine and may have come up with a hardier unit , lol .

And to think you get mad about your boy destroying his toys, but in the long run it really does benifit you for your "parts" doner

heres mine its a bit bigger it used to have leaf springs mounted 1/4 eliptical 1 spring paralel to the front axle 1 parell to the rear the coilovers are too stiff

 

A bunch of guys in my club bought those. I went out and bought 2 rockcrawlers. One to modify and one to stay stock. I think they look cool, but they grew old quick

Now they are just flexed up on top of my TV. The pile of junk in front of them is all the stuff I trimmed off the frame, tires, springs, and bumpers and rim.

For Christmas I bought the Rockcrawler for my self and the Hummer for my Son. We hook them together in opposite directions and have pull offs. Winner mostly depends on whose batteries are newer.

Found another toy broken...Snatched it right up and began construction again. Here's what I have now. More ideas on the way...Stay tuned
