Well since your jeep is a standard, and your running 33's, did you lose fifth gear??, or does your differentials have 4:10 gears because its the 4 banger YJ???

 

yeah I have 4.10s in the diffs. i hit 5th gear only on rare occasion. the 4 banger won't hold the gear on any kind of uphill grade. i don't do much highway driving so its bearable. off road though i've never been in a situation where i didn't have enough power. just stay in low range.

i actually did "lose" 5th gear in my last transmission. shifted into 5th and there was nothing there, acted like it was in neutral.

 

Here's a pic of my YJ. It's got the 258 (with a snorkel, Weber 36 carb, used to have HEI ignition but that's being swapped back to Motorcraft with TFI upgrades), a TF727 transmission, NP-208 x-case, stock axles, stock suspension, even stock wheels. Tires are 31x10.5" Bridgestone Dueler MTs. Next comes an AMC 360 (got the engine, just have to rebuild it).

sorry poser, but I really do have a tj with 10" of lift and my 38.5's rub pretty good when Im out wheeling......of course the jeep would fit those awesome 40" hawgs easy if it:
a) doesnt exist
b) doesnt run since you gutted it with all your big plans
c) is actually a bone stock tj 4 banger
d) it's your dads jeep
e) it never left pavement (except to get put up on blocks in the yard)
