Well, many of you have heard of me complaining about not being able to work on my car at our apartment. Hopefully, that will all change within about 2 weeks. I am going to be renting a house with a couple other Jeeping buddies of mine. Its a pretty big place....for three Jeepers. 3 Bed, 2 Bath. And, finally(drumroll please), a 2 car garage!

Anyway, just thought I would inform the world of true Jeepers.

Sounds great, but 3 jeepers in a two car garage? Sounds like trouble to me...
I can see it now, trading parts for rent...

/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif I can see it now.......a D300 in pieces on the coffee table; brake parts being washed in the dishwasher; Dana front hubs on the kitchen counter; and a hardtop suspended from the living room ceiling. "Pubies" so thick on the bathroom floor that they can be raked into piles and burned like leaves in the Fall; jugs of Valvolene in the pantry; and tires lining the hallway to the bedrooms./wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gifYep....that's Jeep heaven!/wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif

Your in luck, now instead of investing your money on installs it can be invested in tools (much better in my oppion. Now hopefully your land loard will be understanding and realize that having trucks parked on the front lawn is a good idea, especailly when the grass under them stops growing and they are almost camouflaged. CJ Dave definatlly described the ultimate jeepin bachlor pad and it sounds like your place will be it.

Sounds like you are doing well to get out of your appartment. I have two roommates, one is a Jeeper. And Dave just about hit it on the head. Hard top in the back yard, soft top in the living room behind the couch. We have enough Jeep this and Jeep that to make a person light headed. What used to be our dining room is now pretty much a gurage. We pulled the table and chairs out, moved in the tool boxes, and othre toys. I would have it not other way. It is great to have someone around all the time (someone who "understands") to bounce Ideas off of. Enjoy

I know you`ll think I`m crazy for even asking but that dishwasher comment . Could you rig up such a contraption from an old dishwasher for parts cleaning ? I mean a recirculating system using solvent ? What would be the pump requirements ? That just would be so cool if you could have an old portable d/washer , wheel it outside pull of parts and hit the Full Cycle button and 1/2 hour later , super clean parts /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif.Possible or not possible ?Or am I crazy ? /wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif

/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif I've washed hub caps in the dishwasher, but not much else./wwwthreads_images/icons/laugh.gif As far as using solvent, it MIGHT degrade the seal in the pump; depends on what seal they use. You would also have to have a "sump" for crud to collect in as it washed off the parts. The scavenger pipe would have to go to a sump first and then to the pump for recirculation./wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif What you would need is an old TOP LOADING dishwasher./wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif

Yeah.. This will be an interesting pad. Its a two car garage, but there will be:
1 Jeep Commanche
1 Jeep Cherokee
1 Grand Wagoneer
1 Grand Cherokee
1 Wrangler
1 Oldsmobile Wagon
1 Ford F250.

Thats 7 cars!! Time to Downsize! The willy's is still located at my parents house, until Rahi Bin Laden comes and picks it up. He purchased it, but hasnt paid up yet.

As for the parts in the house. hehe.. My landlord at this crummy apartment is probable going to wonder why there are tire marks on the wall. I needed a table quick, and my Jeep was down for a few weeks, So I brought up the 33's, laid two of them on top of eachother, placed a piece of wood on top, walla! A 4 x 4 table. Unfortunatly, Tire marks got all over the hallway as I was wheeling the tires down "kitchen-row".

Right now, my apartment bathroom serves as my parts cleaning center. grease EVERYWHERE! you would think the landlords would inspect this place everyonce in a while.
Well, back to cleaning, I got 8 short days to move a lot of crap into another pad.

Take care! Thanks for the comments! /wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif

I can see it now.......a D300 in pieces on the coffee table; brake parts being washed in the dishwasher; Dana front hubs on the kitchen counter; and a hardtop suspended from the living room ceiling.

So where is the problem? Heh heh heh, ain't life grand...

I have the hubs on the table (2 pairs of Selectro's no less), the alternator (Leece Neville) on the floor in the computer room, and was reworking a turn signal light on the kitchen table Monday morning around 3AM (maybe I should have swept up the metal and plastic shavings...)

Anyway, the wife draws the line at rebuilding the D44 in the bathtub, but I could probably do it if I pushed the issue.

Brake parts in the dishwasher? Who washes brake parts? Now bearings I could see, or something else messy, but brakes don't need no washin'.

The hard top would get in the way, but the soft top would be fairly comfy. Mine is inside, where the mice in the barn won't get at it, there's nothing worse than finding holes chewed in your soft top.

I also know of people that use tires for a coffee table, three 34" Swampers make for a nice kitchen table, and 2 of them does work as a coffee table, but only if you're using the back seat as a couch.

Be wary of any trades in lieu of rent. I know people that have tried to "trade" for their share of the rent, or "spot me now and I'll pay you back later". It never works out. However, if everyone agrees and sticks to a schedule, it could.

Good luck with the house. Oh yeah, have you checked with the landlord to make sure you can use the barn for rebuilding? We tried renting our house awhile ago, didn't work out at all.

Should be some good fun.
