Alright people, I've been looking into starting my own business. I've done research on the business and company and I am now at the point where I need to look to where to get the start up money or the money and collatoral to take out a business loan. Been looking into the Government Grants, but all I can find are the books and materials you can buy to tell you about the grants, how to get them, and in some cases, actual application forms and samples of succesfull applications. What I cannot find, that I'm surprised about, is actual information on the proccess with out having to buy the books and programs, to see if I do want to or even need to get those books.

I figured there are people on this board that have their own businesses and I thouht I'd also take this chance to see what you might have done to get yours up and running. Even on the odd chance that someone here received a Gov't grant to start your business.

any input would be much appreciated.

thanks

If you are planning on selling those bumper carrier/fireplace grill/drying rack/toilet covers...PM me I might be able to hook you up with a loan shark or two.

I think we have some of the books around here, will ask the Lovely Jeep Wife and see what I can do.

Just went and asked the Lovely Jeep Wife what she's got...Her first question was: "Is he going to be selling product or selling a service?" She has tons of books on how to be a consultant, lot's on how to manage people and be a better manager, some on starting your own bussiness. But none on getting a Gov't loan or grant...fortunately she didn't have to go that route...Let me know if any of these pique your intrest.

Howdy,
This isn't so much about getting the money as it is making the most of it...
In my area the SBA has a program called the business incubator, you might check to see if there is one near you. They provide shop/office space for a good price,(for like a year or so) as well as help in other aspects of start-up (not sure what, exactly

) I know it was a big help for small CNC shop I worked for. Helped save some of that much sought after $$$
Good luck, more power to ya.
