O.K. I dont know what to do. I can get a 205 and it will bolt up to the np435 no problem, but the gear ratio is like 1.96:1. Is going the easy route and saving about $600.00 worth the lose is crawling speed. The np435 is way low in 1st, so will I gain back some of that low crawl speed? I really like the 231 thats in the jeep now, but I need to upgrade my tranny for the engine I got, and this sounds eaier to do.

dont forget the weight differences, the 205 is one heavy sumbish. but the 205 is also near-indestructable, and doesnt have a slip yoke. and has output yokes ranging from 1310 to 1410 i believe. at least 1350.

205 gear driven
231 chain driven

205 iron case
231 aluminum case

205 weak low range
231 good low range
but with almost 7:1 granny of the 435 you should be aces.
