What a great Board this is he didn't have a chance to provoke without getting slapped down by the folks here/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif. I havn't been with this BBS very long but I will say that it is the friendliest, most helpful and definitely the cleanest of all. Thanks to all the people who make this Board what it is.
And oh yeah, I see what you mean, it is a drag when the system goes down for a spell and worse yet--I couldn't believe how quick I was to log back on after the holidays at my in-laws/wwwthreads_images/icons/shocked.gif. Keep it civil or please go to another Board.

It is very disheartening. The information I get from this BBS is invaluable. I am a complete newbie to automotive repair (as you can tell from most of my questions) and I'm like a junkie with it. I think it's wonderful that experienced people with automotive knowledge take the time to answer my questions. I tried to get one the BBS for two days before Christmas to wish all of you a happy holidays. I feel like you all are extended family, crazy uncle CJDAVE with his cool guns and trucks and moon buddy's /wwwthreads_images/icons/cool.gif . I just want to make sure that all of you know that we, the uninformed, really do appreciate your help. On a personal note, I got a 241 piece Craftsman tool set for Christmas, I'll have lots to work with now.

I too have gotten great help and more "unheard of" info,tips,tricks,etc etc etc than i ever thought possible,expecially when i dont even
own a Jeep though i have had several over the years and hope to correct that sometime soon.Right now i have a 86 Eagle,258
auto.Thanks to guys here it is lifted suspension wise now 3 inches.Has a puter bypass,a working bbd.Soon will have a hi/lo t case
more lift,HEI ign.etc Hey this board helps more than Just Jeepers ! So thanks to all here that has helped .
As for the guy with the attitude problem" Jeepers make great adjustments !

If you work in an auto dealership, and pull heads off cars, day after day, where there IS no room, and need all the little gazinggas that you use for unbolting the framis and pulling the froobis, then it's got to be Snap-On or Blackhawk, but I have to say that overall, our Craftsman stuff always did a good job for us, and some sets were on service trucks that hardly ever cooled off./wwwthreads_images/icons/wink.gif

I worked as a professional mechanic for years, including a stint at a Jeep dealership. Gotta admit my box has got at least as many Craftsman tools as Snap-On or Mac,etc. The tool trucks got the edge in convienience and are at least a little better in quality, but for good hand tools at a decent price it's hard to beat Craftsman. Half of my truck bought tools were only purchased because Sears didn't have a comparable tool ( like a 7" long 1/4" drive 3mm hex key that you need to adjust that @%$# Ferrari fuel injection, the only @%$# reason the tool exists!)

now that you did, what's your street address? Never know when I might be in Albany.

 

As a guy who spins them for a living (Caterpillar dealership), In my opinion, Snap-on wrenches have too sharp of an edge. Give me a Mac!

I agree with CJDave. Recently heard a quote you may appreciate...Never argue with an idiot, he'll drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience. This BBS is considerably better than any other. I pick up a lot of info and it helps with the reconstruction of my CJ7. Thanks guys.

 

I just got pointed to this board within the past week or so. It strikes a nice balance between the technical focus you see at Parts Mike and the more social focus of Jeeps Unlimited.

I think lashing out at people who post follow ups to your questions is like getting stuck in the mud and then rankin' on the guy who pulls up with a winch on his front bumper. Not the best thing to do if you want help.

But I admire the general response, which made a point without starting a huge flame battle.

I'm happy to be hear and I look forward to reading the board in the coming year and maybe posting a time or two, when I have something to say.

Meantime, I wish you all an excellent New Year.
