I had the urge to go wheeling tonight, but didn't. I was wondering what kind of laws there are for 4x4 trails and times? Specifically I'm talking about the Tillamook Forest area in OR. But if it's basically universal, that'll work. I wouldn't really be doing anything hard. Just having some fun, getting dirty and climbing stuff. So I don't really forsee any problems. But it'll be a nice walk home if there are

Round here, it doesnt matter!!! Thats when we seem to do most of our trail riding at our club land !! Too hot during the day..Besides, the obstackles dont take as much thought at night!! what you cant see cant hurt you....right...!!!!

It's as close to a 1ton as it can get and still be a jeep!!! Gotta love it!!

Personally I never go wheeling at night, its popular around here, but I consider it too dangerous, Chokecherry or the Rock Garden at night could be fatal IMO.

I like night riding, but i don't do it much. Having KC lights really help out. Only thing that scares me is that we go through alot of mud, and there are hidden holes that will swallow a jeep. I like to be able to see my line, rather than trying to blindly go forward.

Heck DAN, thats what makes it fun!!! WE play mostly in creek beds around here though...Not too many lines to take!! I'm sure the rocks would be pretty tough to navigate in the dark, but we havent had any problems playing in Clayton OK. in the dark...You dont get off the trails in the dark either though!! Never know whats behind all those trees!!

I have never heard of any laws prohibiting wheeling at night.
I love night wheeling. I have wheeled nearly every trail at johnson valley forward and backwards at night. Rock lights under the fenders are the best way to go. They put the light where you need it and dont blind your spotter if you happen need one. They also make night repaires on axles and steering much easier than holding a minimag flashlight in your teeth.
If you ever get a chance to wheel with no lights under a full moon, thats a blast also. It takes about 10 minutes without lights to allow your eyes to get adjusted, but after that you can see fine, however you need to make sure no one in the group turns on there lights(back up lights need to be disconnected), or the entire group is blind for about 10 minutes.
Go slow, and enjoy it, night wheeling is a lot of fun.
