My first question before taking such a venture would be: will the tranny & rear-end turn such large tires. These tires could change the dynamics of your stock gear-ratio in the axles. Does this truck have the 4.3L Vortec? It would not be to your advantage if you could only go 45 mph on the e-way w/ the engine screaming at 4000-5000 RPM's. I could be wrong, but certainly a question to ask a pro if you didn't know any better.

The guys that have track cars put in big tires for a variety of reasons, as well as putting in a bigger ratio to spin those tires. But they are sacrificing high-end speed (RPM's at 2500 @ 65 mph). I would wonder if this would happen to you. Hope this helps.

Well, since it's a ZR2 I'd venture it has the 195hp motor, and at least 3.73 gears.

I know that All-Terrains can fit in the ZR2's, but they are pretty tucked up in there. Putting in MT's is very different. They have large knobs on the tire that make them much bigger than the All-Terrains.

And as far as losing power, not too much, although you'll notice it on the hills and such. My friends ZR2 Blazer keeps up pretty good. Well, at least until he hits the speed limiter...

Check out this site and see if there is anything to help you out: Gary Westover's ZR2 Pages.

you can go on superlift.com, and they have a maximum tire size chart. Oh course this' is just a reference, not the word of God, so don't jump on it too quick.

Part of the ZR2 package is 31x10.5 tires, as long as you are using the stock rims. You shouldn't have any trouble putting on 31" MT's.

there is no difference in size between an AT and a MT if I remember corectley the ZR2 comes with 31's correct? and power is not an issue at all considering that 31's are not that big a 4.3 will have no problem turning them or even keeping them cleaned out in the mud.

The size of the tire on the Z-R2 off road package compared to the tires on the LS. The Z-R2 generaly comes factory with 31-10.5/R15 and the LS usualy comes factory with 235-75/R15. (That is the 4X4 modles) Even though the thred is thicker on a mud terrain the 31-10.5/R15 it will usually fit with few problems, Unless you get a wild and super aggresive tire like boggers or super swampers. Than it may rub a little when you turn a sharp corner.
