OK, I just bought my frist Sami. And Like So Many, I have plans, but need to find a few things out first.

How Strong are the Stock Axles. Will they hold up to being Locked Front and Rear, either 5:1 or 6:1 T-Case Gears and 33's (For Now, but 35's Later)

Basically, I don't want to sink a whole lot of money into High Steer, Lockers, and other doo dads into the Stock Axles if they won't take the abuse of 33's or 35's.

I much prefer to build it right the first time and be done with it, rather than build and rebuild.

Some may wonder why I'm jumping straight to 33's, well that's because I already have the tires and want to use them.. Besides, I'd hate to go back to 31's.. heheh

Thanks,
Cliff

My brother, DannyL, ran stock axles (Lincon locker in back and a lockrite in front) with 5.13 gears in them. 4.16 Tcase and 33"s. It wasn't until he put 35"s on his rig he break any axles. Since then a birfield and a rear axle. I have seen many guys run sammy axles with 35"+. Most have success but still have broken axles to deal with occasionaly. As I recall, Mike Lagace broke 3 rears and a front with 35"s or 36" at suzican this year. IMHO it all depends on how you drive and what type of trails you like.

Good luck with the new Zuk.

Ozzie, Thanks for the response...

To the others... I have filled out my Profile as much as I choose. I fail to see anything (with exception to Location) which would help anyone answer my question. And in all reality, my location won't help much either.

However, if the real question you want to ask me is the following, I'll go ahead and answer it for you..

Do you wheel Mud Or Rocks?

Mud Sucks, and Bring on the rocks anyday...

[/ QUOTE ] AHHH... music to my ears! You will need to spend some big dough on upgrading axle shafts to run 33's or 35's in the rocks happily. It can be done but use the skinny pedal sparingly. The common swap is toyota axles from '79-'85. or landcruisers nearly any year. these are nearly bulletproof under a sammy. Theres a set for sale right now.
